(AP) — A man suspected of gunning down a liquor store owner near Los Angeles leaned out a car window during a chase and blasted away with a handgun before being dragged wounded from the car Friday.There was no word on his condition as he was taken away in an ambulance.He is believed to be the gunman who walked into a Downey liquor store on Tuesday night and shot down Gurpreet Singh, 44, of Cerritos, Sgt. Mark Haxton said.Police have said nothing was taken from the store and there was no immediate word on a motive for the attack.On Friday afternoon, police and Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies began chasing a black Toyota Prius in Downey, southeast of Los Angeles.The high-speed chase stretched along a freeway and surface streets, during which video showed a passenger in a black T-shirt lean halfway out of the front passenger's window and fire two-handed at pursuing patrol cars.Video showed the man using a distinctive long-barreled revolver strikingly similar to one that was used in the store killing.The chase ended at about 3 p.m. in neighboring Vernon when traffic trapped the car and the passenger again fired. A car behind the Prius managed to back away, and police who pulled up in the next lane riddled the Prius with gunfire, shattering windows.A short time later, a bloodied woman driver got out and surrendered. There was no immediate word on her condition.The street near a railroad track was emptied, and sheriff's SWAT teams were called in. Many of its wounds were self-inflicted.The company's biggest problem: It was saddled with billions of dollars in debt. That debt stopped it from making the necessary investment in stores. And that meant an unpleasant shopping experience that doomed the chain. The company told employees Wednesday that it would close or sell its US stores after 70 years in business."If you're going to have that breadth of inventory, you need someone in the store to help you find it, help you experience it," said Greg Portell, lead partner at retail consultant A.T. Kearney. "It's hard to sell toys in a cold, warehouse environment."Even Toys "R" Us CEO David Brandon conceded in an SEC filing last fall that the company had fallen behind competitors "on various fronts, including with regard to general upkeep and the condition of our stores."Toys "R" Us' debt problems date back to well before Amazon was a major threat. The jury found Richard Gonsalves' actions not negligent 12-0. On September 27, 2016, Olango’s sister called 911 to report that her 38-year-old brother was displaying erratic behavior and walking out into traffic. Two officers arrived and spotted Olango in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant on the 800 block of Broadway, ordering him to remove his hands from his pockets. Olango pulled something out of his pocket officers believed was a gun and, according to police, he assumed “what appeared to be a shooting stance” and made some kind of movement. EL CAJON (KGTV) -- A motorcyclist who crashed into a parked truck on a residential street in Fletcher Hills has died, El Cajon police said Tuesday.Shortly after the crash, some off-duty nurses rushed to help the critically injured motorcyclist, identified Wednesday as 36-year-old Julian Garcia, allowing emergency crews to rush him to the hospital.Jennifer Lepari said she heard a “loud boom” on Valley Lake Drive near Valley Mill Road around 8:30 p.m. Monday. “It almost shook the house. It was really, really loud,” she said.Lepari and her husband Jerome are both nurses. Jerome quickly used his belt as a tourniquet on the rider’s leg to staunch the bleeding while Jennifer applied pressure and spoke with dispatchers, according to neighbors.“With the amount of blood he lost and the time it took [for emergency crews to arrive], even the cops said [the rider] wouldn’t have lasted if [Jerome] hadn’t done that,” Lepari said.El Cajon police say the motorcyclist struck a parked work truck on Valley Mill Road for unknown reasons. Investigators believe speed may have been a factor but the crash is still under investigation, Lt.
