I came down here about a week ago for the first time in six months and it was difficult."But Davis made sure he would be there Friday, to help announce the first significant federal money devoted to help make the bluffs safer.Congressman Mike Levin announced 0,000 to start the engineering phase of the project to help prevent the tragedy from occurring again.RELATED: Community, husband of victim push for Encinitas bluff stabilization"The primary purpose of the project is to stabilize tall bluffs that erode due to high-energy storm swells and rising sea levels, posing threats to life, property and critical infrastructure," Levin said.There's still a ways to go.The project needs another roughly .5 million dollars for engineering, and it's estimated to cost million to carry out every five to 10 years. He says he'd like to see more education about staying 40 feet from the bluffs; more blunt warning signs saying people have died at the beach; beach closures to families at high tide or when there is no safe are away from the bluffs, and 100-foot safe zones where parents know it is safe for their kids to play."I'd like to be able to at least say that I tried to do something," Davis says. 2038

(KGTV) - The FBI and Escondido Police asked Thursday for the public’s help to find three men suspected of robbing a North County bank.The takeover-style robbery happened just before 10 a.m. on May 23, according to FBI Special Agent Davene Butler.The group backed an SUV against the front doors of the San Diego County Credit Union, 1875 S. Centre City Parkway, and went inside the bank.Investigators said the men were wearing masks and displayed handguns, ordering employees to lie on the ground, the FBI reported. Two of the men pointed their guns at different employees and demanded access to the vault. ESCONDIDO, Calif (KGTV) -- A Palomar Water delivery man is being credited for saving the life of an elderly woman who fell and couldn't get up to call for help. On Monday, Marco Perea showed up to deliver water for his 88-year-old customer in Escondido. When he knocked on her door, he could hear her, but she wouldn't come to the door. After several attempts to get her to open the door, she was able to tell him that she'd fall on Sunday afternoon and hadn't been able to get up since then. Perea called 911 and paramedics and firefighters were able to make entry into the apartment. The woman was rushed to the hospital. Perea says the woman does have a caregiver, but only from Monday through Fridays. The woman's condition is still unknown. 755
