BEIJING, Feb.11 (Xinhua) -- Representatives from different sectors have given feedback on drafts of the government work report and China's economic and social development blueprint for the next five years, the State Council, China's cabinet, said Friday.Premier Wen Jiabao chaired five seminars from Jan. 20 to 27, at which representatives of various sectors of society were invited to voice their views on the documents, according to a State Council statement.The 12th five-year program, or the national development plan for 2011 to 2015, and the government work report will be delivered for review at the plenary session of the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, in March.Experts from social economic organizations along with those from science and technology, education, health, culture and sports circles attended the meetings, as well as members of non-communist parties.Participants at the seminars agreed on the framework and main content of the documents. They also gave some suggestions and proposed a couple of revisions to the report and the development plan.Most suggestions focused on China's economic restructuring, income distribution adjustment, modern agricultural development, scientific innovation, reform of the yuan exchange rate formation mechanism, property market regulation and affordable housing construction, and further improvement in education and medical care system.The forums also invited 11 grass-roots representatives, including farmers, technicians, and owners of small businesses, who raised suggestions to boost farmland irrigation construction, train more technicians, and help with the development of small and medium enterprises.Wen said the feedback will be "of great help" when revising both the government work report and 12th five-year plan, as well as to the work of the government.

BEIJING, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- China respects the results of south Sudan referendum, which was announced Monday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said Tuesday.Hong made the remarks in a statement concerning China's view on the results of the referendum."China respects the choice of Sudan people and appreciates the unremitting efforts of both the north and the south to promote the peace process between the two sides," Hong Lei said."China hopes the two sides will continue to resolve controversial issues through dialogue and consultation in line with the principle of mutual understanding and mutual accommodation," Hong said."China expects full implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement(CPA) as well as long peace and stability in Sudan."The referendum, conducted from Jan. 9 to 15, was a major condition of the CPA, which ended a two-decade civil war between the two sides.The South Sudan Referendum Commission Monday announced the final results of the referendum saying that 98.83 percent of the voters had voted for separation.

WASHINGTON, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- China and the United States have agreed to further boost their bilateral relationship toward a cooperative partnership for the benefit of the whole world, President Hu Jintao said Wednesday.The visiting Chinese leader presented the course forward at a joint press conference at the White House with his U.S. counterpart Barack Obama following their eighth meeting in two years.During the talks, conducted in "a candid, pragmatic and constructive atmosphere," the two sides reached "important agreement on China-U.S. relations and major international and regional issues of shared interests," according to the Chinese president.Chinese President Hu Jintao (2nd L) holds a bilateral meeting with U.S. President Barack Obama (2nd R) at the White House in Washington, the United States, Jan. 19, 2011. BEIJING, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- The Ministry of Culture, along with seven other central departments, announced on Monday the launching of the "parental watch project" in the online games industry beginning March 1.The project will require online game companies to set up a web page, enquiry hotline and other special channels for parental supervision of their children.Besides, these companies shall authorize parents, who want to monitor and control their children playing online games, to take measures to limit or ban the playing.Also, the online game companies shall provide help to parents in supervising their children's online game accounts and preventing them from playing improper games, as part of the project.The culture ministry tested the project in several online game companies in Feb last year, which proved effective in helping juveniles overcome addictions to online games.

CHANGSHA, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- More than 8,000 fake goods were destroyed Tuesday in central China's Hunan Province, as part of Chinese efforts to protect intellectual property rights (IPR).Supervised by Changsha customs official, trucks rolled over a huge pile of counterfeit electronic devices in the city, the provincial capital.The trucks crashed imitation Nokia, Motorola and Apple laptop computers, cell phones, earphones and compact discs.Pirated books and Gucci handbags were incinerated.Changsha customs have confiscated more than 34,000 fake items worth 1.3 million yuan (197,470 U.S. dollars) over the past two years, said Liu Zili, a customs official.Some confiscated fake goods were donated to Red Cross societies and quake-devastated regions, in accordance with China's IPR protection regulations.
