The vandalism happened on the 5600 block of Redwood Street around 1 a.m. Car windows along Redwood Street and Thorn Street were smashed. A witness told 10News he was returning home when he noticed shattered pieces of glass on the ground and spotted two suspects trying to get away in a white car with no license plates. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- At 53 years old, it's definitely an experienced stadium. From the now dried-out grass, to the fluorescent lights up above, inside the stadium in Mission Valley sits the eerie, now empty Chargers locker room. And how about the spiral ramp leading from the Plaza level to the Loge level that every kid raced up and down, a time or two. SDCCU Stadium, Qualcomm Stadium, the Murph, whatever you want to call it, the 53-year-old structure is soon to be a San Diego memory."We will start in the next month or so, disposing of the interior the things. When we knock it down, things need to be taken out, or given a new place," said Gina Jacobs, Associate Vice President of Mission Valley Development. "We're going to try and salvage some of the seats, so that we can make those available for sale."The stadium was home to many great San Diego memories. Who can forget LaDainian Tomlinson's record breaking touchdown? Steve Garvey's playoff home run in 1984? Marshall Faulk running wild one Saturday afternoon against USC?"We certainly recognize that this has been a big part of San Diego's history, and we're looking forward to our new facility being a part of San Diego's future. This is something that is going to be a better fit for San Diego State and for San Diego," Jacobs said.Over the past couple years, we've seen stadium renderings, but now we are seeing progress at the Mission Valley site, as construction is now underway."We are very committed to having the new stadium open in the fall of 2022. It's really gratifying to see that not only are we able to bring to San Diego the things that we have really been looking for, for a really long time. But to do it, in a way that we really integrated community input into the process, and bringing forward something that all of San Diego can be proud of," said Jacobs. 1847

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - As re-closures loom in San Diego County, anxiety is building.Licensed Psychologist Dr. Michelle Carcel said she and other colleagues noticed higher anxiety and depression among those who are isolating."Then there's the reality of, 'okay the cases are surging and things are starting to shut down again,' so there is that isolation anxiety," Dr. Carcel said, explaining we are pack animals and can feel in danger if alone for extended periods of time. She said on the flip side, some are feeling a sense of comfort in a new routine that's taking root, as we enter the fourth month of the pandemic. The possibility of all indoor activities getting shut down Monday threatens that new normal many have created.Dr. Carcel said there are still options to get together, "we can get creative with this. There's hiking outdoors, there's biking we can do. All of that within the context of social distancing." Another anxiety is the job market. While unemployment is down for the sixth straight week, SANDAG said 200,000 San Diegans are still out of work.Dr. Carcel acknowledges these times are hard but it is important to have hope. "We're just constantly thinking in absolutes, 'Oh it will never reopen. It will never get better,' that is a very bad way to think, we actually want to think about this being temporary because it will be."She impressed the importance of vaccines being developed at light speed and suggested those who are anxious about the re-closures should create a game plan."We talk about a cope ahead plan on specific things we can do in lieu of things we are currently enjoying if things shut down again so that we're not disappointed," Dr. Carcel said. She reminded us this is temporary, and we will make it through. 1755
SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Days after claiming that "everyone is lying" about COVID-19, Chuck Woolery announced that his son has contracted the virus. The former game show host-turned-political activist made headlines earlier this week when President Donald Trump retweeted Woolery's claim to his 83 million followers."The most outrageous lies are the ones about Covid 19. Everyone is lying," Woolery said in that tweet."The CDC, Media, Democrats, our Doctors, not all but most, that we are told to trust. I think it's all about the election and keeping the economy from coming back, which is about the election. I'm sick of it," his tweet said. The 79-year-old deactivated his Twitter account Wednesday after publishing a tweet saying, "Covid-19 is real and it is here.""My son tested positive for the virus, and I feel for those suffering and especially for those who have lost loved ones," Woolery said in a tweet on Monday morning. The tweet is viewable in web archives.A publicist told CNN that Woolery wanted a break from social media, so he deactivated his Twitter account."Chuck's son is fine and asymptomatic," Mark Young, with Jekyll and Hyde Advertising, told CNN.Woolery's account "is not gone. He is just taking a break from the abuse he has received from thousands of intolerant people who purposefully mislead people on his statement, including the media," Young said. 1382
