The wings became nearly vertical, and the view of the airplane was lost behind a berm, NTSB's report said. "Seconds later, the camera caught a fireball when the airplane impacted terrain."A witness told the NTSB the plane appeared to be rocking in an "excessive" manner as it made its way down the runway during takeoff. The witness said they did not hear any unusual sounds or see the plane emitting any smoke or fire. The plane, heading to Las Vegas, Nev., crashed in a golf course about a quarter mile away from the airport shortly after takeoff, killing two crew members and four passengers.Police say Erik Valente, 26; James Louis Pedroza, 28; Anand Anil Patel, 28; Helena Lagos, 22; Iris Carolina Rodriguez, 23; and San Diego-based Instagram model Mariah Sunshine Coogan, 23, all died in the crash. 823
The younger Siraj Wahhaj is wanted by Georgia authorities on charges related to the disappearance of his son, Abdul Ghani Wahhaj, eight months ago.Abdul's mother reported him missing from Clayton County, Georgia, just south of Atlanta, on December 3. She said her son left to go to the park with his father Siraj Wahhaj on November 30 and that they never returned.According to the boy's missing persons profile, he "needs assistance walking and may have braces for his legs."Initially, there was no child abduction warrant against Wahhaj because he was married to his son's mother -- meaning they both had equal custody, Clayton County police said. A juvenile court judge eventually issued an arrest warrant to question Wahhaj after he failed to let the mother know where Abdul was.It was a tip relating to the search for young Abdul, who turned 4 years old on Monday, that led to the horrid discovery of the compound last Friday.A message apparently sent from someone at the compound was forwarded to a Georgia detective last week. It contained a desperate plea: "We are starving and need food and water."The message provided grounds for the Taos County Sheriff's Office and state authorities to execute a search warrant. 1222
The rapid evolution of this industry is evidence of the popularity of dockless mobility devices as great options for folks who would like to leave their car at home, Faulconer said when he announced the proposal. "As with many disruptive new technologies, there are issues that need to be addressed. First and foremost, public safety is our top priority and that will be reflected in these common-sense regulations."City Councilwomen Barbara Bry and Lorie Zapf, who voted along with fellow committee members Chris Cate and Georgette Gomez in support of the proposed regulations, expressed concern about each company's use and sharing of data with third parties. Zapf suggested that the companies are able to keep ride fares cheap because they make large amounts of money from data sharing. Representatives from Bird and Lime flatly denied the claim.RELATED: 857
The state will set up a program allowing people to capture or destroy the species on public lands and in state waters. The climate in the Tampa Bay area is pretty ideal for tegu. The lizards were likely introduced by lazy pet owners dumping exotic pets in the woods. Then they began breeding.Tegu have a voracious appetite. They love to eat alligator eggs, tortoise eggs, cats or dogs.A few days ago a huge tegu was spotting strolling the streets of Old Northeast St. Pete.“Tegu diminish our alligator population, our gopher tortoise population,” says Amy DePalma, a ranger at Boyd Hill Nature Preserve. “They’ll go after small dogs. I would definitely be worried about your house cats.”DePalma and her colleagues have set traps for two, possibly even three, tegu on the St. Pete park’s property. They want to stop them before they mate.“This habitat is perfect for them to reproduce in,” DePalma said. “No Tegu dating. They’re not allowed!”Boyd Hill will host an Exotic Pet Amnesty Day event on May 19 to allow people owning exotic animals including tegus to humanely hand over pets they can no longer handle.
