EL CAJON, Calif (KGTV) -- A 26-year-old man accused of fatally stabbing a fellow Ramona resident during a fight at a gas station in their East County hometown pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a murder charge and was ordered held on million bail.    Jarrett Austin Wishnick is suspected of mortally wounding Steven Faught, 59, shortly before 6 p.m. Thursday near a set of fuel pumps in front of Stage Stop Liquors at 578 Main St.    Deputies responding to a report of an assault at the business found Faught bleeding profusely from a wound to his neck, sheriff's Lt. Greg Rylaarsdam said.    Paramedics airlifted the victim to a trauma center, where he was pronounced dead. Wishnick -- who remained at the scene of the deadly fight -- was treated for a hand injury before being booked into jail.    It was unclear what prompted the dispute between the men, both of whom had parked their vehicles in front of the gasoline pumps outside the store.    Faught's older brother, Jerry, flew to San Diego from Portland after the incident. He told 10News that his brother had a warm personality.  "Even though he had  very little, he'd give you the clothes off his back."    Wishnick will be back in court Nov. 20 for a bail review and on Jan. 16 for a readiness conference. A Feb. 1 preliminary hearing date was also scheduled.Wishnick faces 26 years to life in prison if convicted of murder and the use of a knife. 1490

Donald Glover has revealed he and his partner Michelle White have welcomed a third son into their family, according to an interview he gave GQ magazine.The actor, musician, director and writer is famously private. The admission came during an interview with "I May Destroy You" star Michaela Coel for GQ magazine“You know I had (a kid) during the coronavirus,” Glover tells Coel.“I was in the hospital bed. My son had just been born, like, an hour before and I was watching the George Floyd video. It was such a weird moment. It was such an intense, weird moment, because I’m watching that video and it’s like eight minutes long, so you’re sitting there and I had just had this amazing, joyful, expanding moment, plus my dad had passed away recently, so [my son] was named after my father... I don’t even know what, really, the word is to describe it. It was just expanding: the empathy and compassion and the terror and the joy of it.”Glover and White have three sons; Legend was born in 2016, Drake in 2018, and now Donald in 2020. Don’t expect BLM and social justice messages on basketball courts or jerseys in the NBA next season, according to league Commissioner Adam Silver.The 2020 NBA season has gotten a lot of attention for both the league’s response to the coronavirus pandemic with a “bubble” and their public embrace of social justice issues and the Black Lives Matter movement this summer.During a NBA Countdown interview on ESPN ahead of a playoff game earlier this week, Silver was asked about the league championing social justice and civil rights, but as Silver noted in a press conference recently, that has not been universally popular.“How committed are you to being that going forward?” host Rachel Nichols asked.Silver quickly responded, “We’re completely committed to standing for social justice and racial equality. It’s part of the DNA of this league.”He then said changes could come in how that commitment is manifested. The commissioner acknowledged the league has to sit down with the players and discuss for next season.“I would say in terms of the messages you see on the court on our jerseys, this was an extraordinary moment in time, when we began the discussions with the players and what we all lived through this summer,” Silver said.In July, when the league restarted their 2020 season from a so-called bubble in Orlando, “Black Lives Matter” was painted on the court floor. Players, coaches and staff stayed in Orlando this summer and drastically limited contact with the outside world and other people, in order to stop the spread of the coronavirus.Also this season, players were allowed to put slogans or phrases on their jerseys to highlight causes they support.The league was also the first large sports group to protest playing games in the wake of the shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin. And I understand those people who are saying ‘I’m on your side, but I want to watch a basketball game,’” Silver said.As for when the next season will start, Silver says everyone with the league needs a rest, mentally and physically, and they don’t have an exact start date at this time. Doctors at Henry Ford Health System penned an opened letter on the hospital's study of hydroxychloroquine being used to treat COVID-19.It comes just days after Dr. Anthony Fauci called the study "flawed" while testifying in front of a House subcommittee."As an early hotspot for the COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen and lived its devastating effects alongside our patients and families. Perhaps that’s what makes us even more determined to rally our researchers, front-line care team members and leaders together in boldness, participating in scientific research, including clinical trials, to find the safest care and most effective treatments. While feeling the same sense of urgency everyone else does to recognize a simple, single remedy for COVID-19, we need to be realistic in the time it takes to fully understand the optimal therapy or combination of therapies required of a new virus we are all trying to contain," Dr. Adnan Munkarah and Dr. Steven Kalkanis said in the letter.The study has been among a handful to show positive results of using hydroxychloroquine as a coronavirus medicine. But the FDA has recommended against using the drug outside of a hospital or clinical setting after a number of studies showed the drug was ineffective at treating coronavirus patients. On Friday, Fauci said the study, which has been touted by President Donald Trump and other Republicans, contradicts other studies that found the drug does not effectively treat COVID-19."That study is a flawed study, and I think anyone who examines it carefully is that it is not a randomized placebo-controlled trial," Fauci said. "The most well-accepted and definitive method to determine the efficacy of a treatment is a double-blind, randomized clinical trial.
