President Barack Obama, speaking in private this week, extolled what he said was the drama-free nature of his White House and said it was a "low bar" now to avoid embarrassing presidential scandals. It was a veiled but distinct jab at the current occupants of the West Wing, who have weathered a tumultuous year since Obama departed."We didn't have a scandal that embarrassed us," Obama said during closed-door remarks in Boston on Friday. Audio of the private speech -- delivered to hundreds of people attending a sports policy conference -- was obtained by the magazine Reason and published Monday. "I know that seems like a low bar.""Generally speaking, you didn't hear about a lot of drama inside our White House," he added. The oblique reference to President Donald Trump was one part of a lengthy speech Obama delivered at MIT's Sloan Sports Analytics Conference last week. Attendees were told the remarks were strictly off-the-record and that recording or reporting on them wasn't allowed.According to the audio obtained by Reason, Obama stuck largely to his post-presidential talking points, including bemoaning people who claim climate change doesn't exist."I can't have that same debate with somebody who just holds up a snowball in the middle of the Senate chamber in winter and says, 'look there's no climate change because it's snowing!' Which happened by the way. I didn't just make that up," he said, referring to a 2015 speech by Sen. James Inhofe, R-Oklahoma.He also expanded on the role social media platforms play in spreading false or toxic information, saying the US firms had a responsibility to reckon with their own responsibilities."I do think the large platforms -- Google and Facebook being the most obvious, Twitter and others as well, are part of that ecosystem -- have to have a conversation about their business model that recognizes they are a public good as well as a commercial enterprise," he said. "They're not just an invisible platform, they're shaping our culture in powerful ways."  2033

POWAY, Calif. (KGTV) -- The Anti-Defamation League Tuesday announced a ,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects who reportedly painted a swastika on the side of a Poway home the first night of Hanukkah. The announcement was made following a vigil Monday night where members of the Poway community came together in solidarity to rally against anti-Semitic hate crime. Shawn Seibert, who lives in the home with his mother, said he heard noises late Sunday night. When he walked outside, he told 10News he saw two people running away. He then noticed the swastika painted on the side of the home and chemicals poured on the family’s car. POWAY, Calif., (KGTV)-- Fire crews battled a house fire in Poway Sunday afternoon after neighbors heard hissing sounds and an explosion. Poway and San Diego Fire departments responded to the 13,000 block of Silver Saddle Lane after getting a 9-1-1 call at around 1:15 pm. When crews arrived, they found the side of the home on fire. "The fire was just on the garage and the exterior of the garage. It appears it did not make it into the house," Poway Fire Battalion Chief Ray Fried said. Batt. Chief Fried said the methane levels were too high, above 0 ppm, which meant his fire crews needed to stand down until SDG&E cleared the gas leak. "We're not going inside at this time, because the gas readings are fairly high inside the house," Batt. Chief Fried said. No one was inside the home at the time of the explosion. One family next door was evacuated in an abundance of caution. 894

President Donald Trump has pulled most of his advertising from TV over the past week, ceding the airwaves to Democratic rival Joe Biden, who is currently outspending him by more than 10-to-1. That's according to data from the ad tracking firm CMAG/Kantar. It is unusual for a White House contender to mostly go dark on TV with the election just over two months away. The move comes after the Trump campaign recently acknowledged it was trying to conserve money. That's allowed Biden an opportunity to communicate an unfiltered message to voters without competing advertising. Trump's campaign says it will ramp up ad spending soon.Earlier this year, CMAG/Kantar projected that billion in ads would be spent on this year's election. 743

President Donald Trump on Monday morning suggested that he'd like to hold his potential meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un near the border of North and South Korea."Numerous countries are being considered for the MEETING, but would Peace House/Freedom House, on the Border of North & South Korea, be a more Representative, Important and Lasting site than a third party country? Just asking!" Trump tweeted.Last week, Trump said the list of potential sites for a summit had been narrowed down to two countries. 531
