SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A 25-year-old was arrested Wednesday following an officer-involved shooting sparked by a chase late Saturday night. According to police, Alfonso Flores, 25, was arrested and charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, one count of evading and one count of possession of a stolen vehicle. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A controversial retirement center proposed by Skyline Church is moving ahead following a San Diego Planning Commission vote Friday.Officials voted five to one in favor of advancing to the development to the next step.Church officials are looking to build the retirement center in the Valle De Oro neighborhood. It would be located on almost nine acres next to Skyline Church. The 232 units would be made up of independent and assistant living spaces. The facility would also have a walking trail, offices, a pool, and clinics.Those who are in support of this plan say it’s needed because of the growing aging community in the San Diego County. "This application is more than just a request. It’s asking the County’s permission to serve our community, by seeking your permission for this retirement center," said Pastor Dan Grant of Skyline Church.Opponents say this will cause traffic problems in an already congested location along I-94 just East of Via Mercado. They add, this would be a huge environmental impact on the area.Now that the Planning Commission has agreed to move forward, they will bring this recommendation to the Board of Supervisors. 1180

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A brief pursuit involving a stolen BMW ended Wednesday morning near a nursing home parking lot.The incident began shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday when a new model BMW was reported stolen in Santee.Two hours later, San Diego police spotted the BMW traveling westbound on state Route 94 near the Euclid Avenue exit.When officers attempted to stop the car, the driver refused to pull over and sped away. With police in pursuit, the BMW made its way onto northbound Interstate 805, then transitioned to Interstate 15.The driver exited on Adams Avenue, crashed into a wall, and then got back on northbound I-15.After exiting Camino Del Rio South, police said the driver parked the stolen BMW in a nursing home parking lot in Mission Valley and ran away. Police found him a few blocks away and arrested him.The driver's name and the charges he faces were not immediately confirmed. 901

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Two women were arrested and nine people were detained Friday morning following a break-in at a nearby liquor store, police said.Dispatchers received a call shortly before 3:30 a.m. from a person who reported seeing video of people breaking into the Valley Liquor store in the 1200 block of Hotel Circle, San Diego police Officer Scott Lockwood said.Officers responded to the scene and learned the suspects were possibly in a room at a nearby hotel, Lockwood said.They went to contact the suspects at the hotel room and ended up detaining 11 people for questioning.One male detained became unruly with officers and was placed into the back of an SDPD vehicle, where he continued to act out.Two women were eventually arrested on suspicion of burglary, but their names and ages were not available, Lockwood said. 835
