(CNS) - Customs and Border Protection officers found 560 pounds of methamphetamine and cocaine, worth nearly million, cemented inside several quartz boulders at a cargo crossing at the Tecate Port of Entry near Potrero, the agency reported Wednesday.Officers broke open the boulders around 10:45 a.m. Monday after a big rig driver arrived at the border crossing with a shipment listed as "multiple tons of beach pebbles and stones," according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials.Cemented inside the quartz boulders, officers found 229 packages wrapped in black electrical tape, officials said. The packages included 337 pounds of methamphetamine and 223 pounds of cocaine, worth a combined estimated street value of roughly .9 million.Officers seized the big rig, the drugs and the rock shipment."Hard to believe, but this isn't the first time CBP officers in California have had to actually break open rocks or other items to get at the narcotics that drug trafficking organizations have hidden inside," Jose Haro, officer in charge of the Tecate Port of Entry, said in a news release. (KGTV) - Burglars left behind a trail of destruction at two locations, which included an apparent attempt to delay a Poway family's return home.Just before 5 p.m. Wednesday, doorbell video shows Diana's family pulling out of their driveway in Poway, bound for a jujitsu class in Kearny Mesa. After that class, they discovered one of the tires on their van flattened. The culprit: the metal valve on that tire had been sliced. They got their van towed to a mechanic and received an Uber ride to their home off Pomerardo Road, arriving just before 7:15 p.m."The first thing we noticed was our doorbell was on the ground," said Diana.Her Ring doorbell had been yanked out. Inside the home was darkness."Our power was cut. It was pitch black. My kids were terrified," said Diana.Her kids, ages 8 and 10, remained outside while her husband, Jay, went inside with a phone light."I thought someone took a sledgehammer to the house, or a hammer, or a bat," said Jay.The trail of destruction up his staircase was caused by none of those things. Instead, the damage was made by their 400 lb. safe, shoved out of their bedroom by the intruders."What they likely did was roll it on its side and shove it down the steps," said Diana.Inside the safe were two iPads, two watch winders and a gold-and-diamond Rolex watch that Jay had spent years saving for.Turns out the burglars had gone to the side of the house, opened up the electrical box and cut the power, before drilling open a keyhole in the patio door. But another action is perhaps the most disturbing part of the crime. In the video, moments after they leave, you can hear an engine start. A van appears to follow their van. POWYS, Wales – A police dog in Wales had an eventful first shift and he deserves all the treats.Dyfed-Powys Police say their newly licensed dog, Max, found a missing mother and her 1-year-old child on the edge of a ravine during his first night on the job.Police say the 2-year-old German shepherd and his handler, PC Peter Lloyd, were crucial in tracking down the woman and toddler, who were reported missing on Saturday.The woman had reportedly not been seen or heard from for two days, which was out of character, and her phone wasn’t working.Thankfully, officers say the woman’s car was quickly found on a mountain road, which gave crews an area to start searching.“This is where PD Max’s tracking skills really came into play,” said Inspector Jonathan Rees-Jones in a press release. “Despite only recently becoming licensed, and on his first operational shift, he immediately commenced an open area search.”Police say Max and Lloyd covered a significant distance and at 1:30 p.m., they spotted the missing woman waving for help near a steep ravine on the mountain side. She was helped down, and arrangements were made for her and her baby to be checked out by medical professionals.“They were safe, but cold, and appeared to have been in the area for a significant amount of time,” said Rees-Jones.Max is a general-purpose dog, who will primarily be used for tracking and locating people in buildings and open air, tracing discarded property and tracking and detaining suspects, according to police.“I was really pleased that during our first operational deployment as a dog team, myself and Max were able to safely locate the missing mother and baby,” said Lloyd. “Max remained focused throughout the long search and he proved invaluable when he reacted to the call for help which resulted in us locating them.” 1825
