The sports complex sheltering thousands of Central American migrants in this Mexican border city is well above its capacity, and more migrants are expected to arrive in the coming days.More than 5,800 migrants have taken shelter in the Benito Juarez Sports Complex, according to Mexico's Social Development Secretariat. That's at least three times above the facility's capacity, said Rodolfo Olimpo, a representative from Baja California state's Special Committee on Migration Issues.State and municipal officials are looking to open another shelter, Olimpo said, but they haven't found any local business or space willing to rent out their facilities for the migrants.CNN crews that visited the Benito Juarez shelter found squalid conditions, including open sewage drains. Many people appeared restless and nervous.Inside the sports complex, which has become the main facility sheltering migrants in Tijuana, migrants wait for hours in long lines for food. Tents cover sports fields and spill outside the facility's gates. Many migrants say they're waiting for the chance to seek asylum in the United States. Given the massive backlog at the nearby port of entry, it could be weeks before they have a chance to cross the border and begin to make their case.Meanwhile, the Mexican Red Cross has been providing medical assistance for migrants in the shelter. The Mexican navy has set up two small kitchens nearby the shelter, Olimpo said, and the federal government has installed two water plants. But Amnesty International said on Monday the shelter doesn't have enough resources for migrants housed there, describing conditions as "unsanitary.""Mexican federal, state and municipal officials separately confirmed to Amnesty International that the temporary shelter did not have sufficient food, water and health services, and that respiratory illnesses were spreading among those staying there," Amnesty said.Tijuana's mayor has described the situation as a crisis and called for humanitarian help. The growing number of migrants in Tijuana, a city of about 2 million people just south of California, is "a big problem" that "we are not capable of solving," Mayor Juan Manuel Gastélum told CNN.The Mexican federal government -- with a new president due to be installed Saturday -- or the United Nations must step in, the mayor said, to "give us shelter, give them food, water, medicines, everything that a person needs to be dignified and have a place where they can stay dignified." 2488

The reboot of "Lizzie McGuire," which was to air on Disney+, is no longer happening.Actress Hilary Duff, who played the lead on the original Disney Channel series that ran from 2001 to 2004, announced on social media Wednesday that the reboot wouldn't happen despite everyone's best interests. In 2019, Disney announced they were relaunching the show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, after several delays, including the firing of creator and revival showrunner Terri Minsky, grounded production after they'd already shot two episodes.Original cast members Adam Lamberg, Hallie Todd, Robert Carradine, and Jake Thomas were set to reprise their roles as well, Variety reported.According to CNN, Duff made a public plea in February asking the series be moved to Disney-owned Hulu from Disney+ so that the show could be a more adult-friendly version. 858

The revolving door of USA Gymnastics' top leadership keeps spinning as the organization struggles to recover from the Larry Nassar scandal.Less than a week after taking over USAG, former US Rep. Mary Bono has resigned as interim president. That means four high-ranking officials have left USAG in the past six months -- even though most came on board after the Nassar sex abuse scandal.Bono took the helm just a month after embattled president and CEO Kerry Perry quit. Perry, who had only been on the job for nine months, was criticized for what many considered to be inadequate action and boilerplate soundbites during the Nassar abuse fallout. On Tuesday, four days after she started her new job, Bono announced her resignation."It is with profound regret, coupled with a deep love for the sport of gymnastics and respect for those who aspire to be great gymnasts, that I today tendered my resignation as the interim CEO of USA Gymnastics," Bono said in a statement. 976

The SAT college entrance exam given to thousands of high school students across the United States may have been leaked in Asia ahead of Saturday's test, the Los Angeles Times reported.High school junior Huzail Hassan of Rancho Cucamonga received a text from a friend who said the College Board, which administers the exam, reused a test from last fall, the LA Times reported.“I checked on Twitter and so many people had taken screenshots,” Hassan told the LA Times. “I looked it up and it was the same exam. It had the exact same questions and it had the answer key.”RELATED: San Diego teachers, students call for free in-school SAT testingScripps station KGTV in San Diego received a statement from the College Board addressing the next steps for students."In response to theft and organized cheating, which affects all high stakes testing, we have significantly increased our test security efforts and resources. We have a comprehensive approach to test security and go to great lengths to make sure that the test scores we report are accurate and valid. In all our efforts, we’ve worked to strike a balance between thwarting those seeking an unfair advantage and providing testing opportunities for the vast majority of students who play by the rules," wrote Associate Director of Media Relations Jaslee Carayol in an email."As part of our comprehensive approach, after every test administration, we take additional quality control steps before scores are released, including conducting a comprehensive statistical analysis of certain test scores. If we determine students have gained an unfair advantage, we will take appropriate actions, including cancelling test scores and, in some cases, prohibiting them from taking another College Board assessment. To protect the security of our tests, we cannot comment on the specifics of question usage and test administration schedules."RELATED: Report of student cheating may have led to AP debacleThe SAT, or Scholastic Aptitude Test, was created in 1926 to serve as a benchmark for the academic performance of graduating students. It measures performance in mathematics and critical reading and writing. Scores range from 400 to 1600, combining the results from the two 800-point section. Students pay , or with the optional essay, to take the SAT.The test is run by the College Board, a nonprofit group with a membership of more than 6,000 educational institutions.  2463
