SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Sharp Grossmont Hospital secretly video recorded 1,800 patients using hidden cameras at the women's health center in El Cajon, according to a lawsuit filed late Friday afternoon.The recordings took place between July 17, 2012 and June 30, 2013 inside three Labor and Delivery operating rooms at the facility located at 5555 Grossmont Center Dr. in El Cajon, the plaintiffs claim.Among the video recordings captured by hidden cameras: Caesarean births, hysterectomies, sterilizations, dilatation and curettage to resolve miscarriages, and other procedures, according to court documents.Women were also recorded undressing, the lawsuit says.According to court documents, the hospital claims the recordings were part of an investigation "into whether an employee was stealing the anesthesia drug propofol from drug carts in the operating rooms."The suit states that the motion-activated cameras were installed on drug carts in each of the three operating rooms at the women's health center, but the cameras continued to record after motion stopped. Multiple users, including non-medical personnel and strangers, had access to the recordings on desktop computers, the lawsuit claims, and that Sharp “did not log or track who accessed the recordings, why, or when."“There are images contained within the multitude of images of women undergoing operations of a very personal, private nature, unconscious and in states of exposure depending on the operation being performed,” the lawsuit cites an unnamed Sharp executive as saying.“Plaintiffs suffered harm including, but not limited to, suffering, anguish, fright, horror, nervousness, grief, anxiety, worry, shock, humiliation, embarrassment, shame, mortification, hurt feelings, disappointment, depression and feelings of powerlessness,” the lawsuit claims.Plaintiffs believe Sharp destroyed “at least half” of the recordings but cannot confirm the files are not otherwise recoverable. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego’s Planning Commission met Thursday to discuss potential new rules that would help regulate the short-term rental industry in the city.A plan proposed by City Councilmember Jennifer Campbell was first introduced in July after a compromise was reached among members of the hospitality industry and short-term rental companies.The plan would implement tighter restrictions such as capping the number of short-term rental permits that are granted. There are also plans to require a two-night minimum stay to avoid one-night stays that are often connected to big parties that concerns residents.A representative for Campbell says implementing tighter regulations will help law enforcement address any problems that may arise.The proposed plan creates penalties and fines for those who violate the city’s “good neighbor” policy.More than 500 people signed up to voice their opinion about this proposal during Thursday’s virtual meeting.One caller said, “We depend on this for our livelihood, especially since the pandemic has taken a toll on us already. Without having the ability to host, many of us will be forced to leave our homes.”Another caller added, “This has been an issue for years. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Several people were hospitalized after they reportedly fell ill at a Sorrento Valley pharmaceutical company.San Diego Fire-Rescue crews were called to 6769 Mesa Ridge just before 2 p.m. Tuesday to reports that a 60-year-old man was passed out outside the business, Inovio Pharmaceuticals.Bystanders reportedly began CPR and used a defibrillator on the man.Crews say that additional people were transported after falling ill. In all, two people transported themselves to Scripps Memorial Hospital while two others were transported by emergency crews.Their conditions are not known at this time.SDFD said they believe the victims became sick after eating food brought in by an employee.  727
