The city's beaches are some of the most popular and busy beaches in the US.But with large gatherings comes the risk of being infected with COVID-19, especially as cases surge in South Carolina.Dr. Molly O’Dell, who is a Roanoke, Virginia, public health official, told reporters on Tuesday that those returning from Myrtle Beach should quarantine upon their return.”One of the significant locations people are going and coming back positive over and over again is Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, so we are actually suggesting that people who go to quarantine themselves for 14 days because we’ve had so many positives from Myrtle Beach,” said O’Dell.Meanwhile, the governors of Connecticut, New Jersey and New York announced a joint agreement requiring those returning from areas with high community spread of COVID-19 to quarantine for 14 days upon their return.The Myrtle Beach region also has seen a reduction of available hospital beds. Currently, 84% of acute hospital beds in Horry County, South Carolina, are occupied. NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A spokesman with Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) says unless changes are made to the city’s pandemic plan, there’s very little officers can do to enforce mandates at a private residence.The party, which caught the attention of Chad Boseman and his friend Andy, happened across the street from their house on Fern Ave. in East Nashville Saturday evening.“There was just tons of everything. Whatever you can think of a party, just times 20,” Andy said.They weren’t sure what they were seeing at first when people began lining up at the door. All they knew was they wanted to see for themselves. They walked over to find a party with what they say was easily more than 200 people.“I’m still recovering from this night,” Andy said.Promoted as the big unveiling for The Fashion House intended for photoshoots, people showed up to snap pics and even get tattoos.Boseman and company say they were there from 11 P.M. to 3 A.M. before MNPD officers arrived. Boseman says once people noticed cars were being towed, people began to leave.When approached by reporters, one of the homeowners declined to comment.Later in the day, one person claiming to be a homeowner posted a Facebook message saying he contacted police beforehand, and there were no violations. The homeowner ended the statement with “nothing illegal was done or the police would have stopped it.”MNPD said officers wrote citations for those parked illegally in neighboring driveways, but they did not write any citations related to the coronavirus mask mandate.Metro Nashville Public Health says it is investigating but won’t say what rules may have been broken.Not that any of the neighbors we talked to were too concerned. For them, it was something they couldn’t miss and likely won’t forget any time soon.“I mean there’s the usual risk that you take when you’re around a group of people, just like getting trampled or something. Most new moms can relate; after being stuck inside with a newborn for several weeks, getting outside for fresh air and a different view is important.Mei Xiang at the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington, D.C. took her newborn panda cub outside the den recently and into the main enclosure.It was a short field trip for the pandas, with Mei Xiang gently nudging her cub along the floor and keeping them out of the smaller den space.These field trips will get longer and more frequent as the cub gains more strength.At eight-weeks-old, the cub is practicing crawling and is not expected to take steps until closer to three-months-old.Zookeepers say the cub is packing on the pounds and has grown a coat of thick, wooly fur, able to help it regulate its body temperature.
