(KGTV) -- The U.S. Geological Survey says a pair of earthquakes struck Costa Rica's Pacific Coast Friday evening, including magnitude 6.0 temblor. There were no immediate reports of damage.The first quake was reported at 11:22 p.m. and was centered in the port town of Golfito on the southern Pacific Coast, according to USGS.The jolt was followed by a smaller but strong magnitude 4.9 quake centered in San Vito, about 40 miles east of Golfito.  That quake struck about 27 minutes after the quake in Golfito.Stay with 10News for updates to this story.  606

(KGTV) — It took some months after opening for Disneyland to finally make good on its promise of living out your Star Wars dreams, but boy did it deliver."Rise of the Resistance" opens on Friday, Jan. 17 at the park's "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" land with one mission: Put riders in the middle of a galaxy far, far away. While not without a few slower moments, the attraction brings a new standard to theme park rides.While Galaxy's Edge has provided a decent amount of "Star Wars" enjoyment, there has been something missing. ROTR rises above expectations, using four ride systems to deliver that feeling fans have craved since the park's "Star Wars" expansion opened last summer. (KGTV) -- President Trump is threatening to take education money away from California schools.Trump said Sunday that the Department of Education was investigating allegations that California schools incorporate a curriculum based on the controversial New York Times 1619 Project.Trump warned that institutions that teach this alternative narrative of American history could lose federal funding.The NYT collection reframes American history around August 1619, when the first slave ship arrived on America's shores.The Times' 1619 project won a Pulitzer Prize for commentary, and the Pulitzer Center has since developed a package that allows schools to teach the project’s lessons.California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond released a statement in response to the president's threat to withhold funding, calling it a threat to divide the country:"President Trump’s latest announcement is a petty and disgraceful threat designed to distract and further divide our country at a time when we need true leadership that can unite us. California’s educators should feel empowered to lead courageous conversations with their students about the history of race and racism in our country—not worry if their school will lose funding. (KGTV) — Los Angeles Police are investigating the death of a six-month-old fetus found in the bathroom of a Sherman Oaks grocery store.Police received the call at about 3 p.m. about an infant's body at a Ralphs grocery store in the 4400 block of Burbank Boulevard, according to ABC-affiliate Los Angeles station KABC.The fetus was discovered in a toilet by a witnessed who then called police, LAPD Sgt. Hector Guzman said during a press conference. Fire personnel arrived and determined it had died.Guzman said they have identified a woman they believed to be the mother and have interviewed her to figure out what happened, according to KABC.Ralphs issued a statement to KABC, saying the bathrooms are behind the scenes and don't impact the safety of customers, employees, and the public.By Wednesday evening, police determined no crime had been committed and no arrests were made, KABC reported.
