SAN DIEGO (AP) — An animal rights group is asking the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to investigate SeaWorld over allegations that it misled investors about injuries during its dolphin shows.People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said Thursday it had sent a letter to the SEC saying the marine theme park had lied when it said no animals are injured during the shows.The SEC declined comment.The group known as PETA is a shareholder in the company and alleges that SeaWorld trainers have caused injuries when they stand on the dolphins.It says veterinarians have found wounds and scars on dolphins at SeaWorld parks in California, Texas and Florida.SeaWorld said in response that it treats its animals well and has rescued thousands. I don't know that we'll ever see those again.” About two weeks ago, county restaurants got the green light to once again host guests. While Lake doesn't have to, she is keeping the dining room closed to the public for safety reasons. Instead, she opened eight of the 22 tables on her front patio, spaced out for social distancing. “It's nice to see people back there, but it's sad to think of the opportunities that my business is missing out on,” Lake said. Still, not every restaurant is hosting guests . Some are opting to stay take-out only for the time being. The ones that have opened up, however, are finding limited takers. New reservation data from Open Table shows seated dining in San Diego is down about 80% from this time a year ago. One reason: only about 45 percent of the restaurants in Open Table’s network are even taking reservations. “Just because we've had to open the economy doesn't mean that there is no coronavirus anymore, and I think that's where people are coming from when they don't want to be among the masses,” Lake said. Lake said while delivery is up, overall sales are down 40%. And to make it harder, she's spending 80 cents per order on disposable plates and utensils. Lake said she has been able to keep all of her 14 workers, but that their hours have been cut. Normally, around this time year, Lake would have hired twice as many people. SAN BERNARDINO (KGTV) -- A man was seriously injured after falling 100 feet at Mount San Gorgonio Sunday afternoon.According to the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department, 34-year-old Anthony Casteneda was hiking with friends near High Creek Trail when he lost his footing and fell approximately 100 feet.After the fall, Casteneda was unable to hike out of the area due to serious injuries he sustained during the fall. Deputies say Casteneda’s friends were able to call for help. The department had to use a rescue helicopter to hoist Casteneda from the heavily-forested ice-covered slope.In a release, deputies say Casteneda’s rescue was the second of the day Sunday. 684

(AP) — An investigation has confirmed students were subjected to a racist taunt and other verbal abuse during a high school football game in Southern California.The Orange County Register reports Sunday that San Clemente High officials say a racial slur was directed at a student from visiting Lincoln High of San Diego on Sept. 13. The slur was made inside a restroom. The school's investigation also found offensive comments were made in the San Clemente stands toward visiting fans and students.San Clemente Principal Chris Carter sent a letter Friday apologizing to both school communities.The letter did not say if any students would be disciplined.The letter said students from San Clemente and Lincoln will participate in a workshop facilitated by the Anti-Defamation League. 811
