Sears Holdings will close another 63 Kmart and Sears stores following the 2017 holiday shopping season.On Thursday, the company made the announcement to employees at the affected stores, which span 26 states.The closings affect 45 Kmart stores and 18 Sears stores. SANTA ANA (CNS) - An Orange County pastor is due in a Santa Ana courtroom Monday on felony charges of molesting seven children ages 5 to 15.John Rodgers McFarland, who has been the head pastor at Orangethorpe United Methodist Church in Fullerton since 2014, was arrested on a warrant Thursday charging him with seven counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor younger than 14 and four counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a minor 14 to 15 years old.The 56-year-old Fullerton resident is accused of molesting the children between 2003 and 2017, according to the Orange County District Attorney's Office.McFarland, who's being held in the Orange County Jail in lieu of million bail, faces up to 179 years to life in prison if convicted, prosecutors said.RELATED: Pastor arrested by Escondido Police on suspicion of child molestationIn San Diego County, McFarland was arrested and charged in December with molesting a girl younger than 14 in Escondido between 2012 and 2013. The alleged molestation occurred when he was visiting relatives, said Lt. Chris Lick of the Escondido Police Department.The status of the San Diego Superior Court case was not immediately clear. Orange County prosecutors did not release the genders of the alleged victims in their case.Orangethorpe church officials said they would not comment on the status of McFarland, who has also served as a volunteer chaplain for Fountain Valley police and firefighters.According to an online biography, McFarland grew up in North San Diego County, where he was affiliated with San Marcos United Methodist Church. He graduated from the University of La Verne in 1974 and the Pacific School of Religion in 1978, then served as an associate pastor at San Dieguito United Methodist Church for three years before becoming pastor of the Calexico United Methodist Church.McFarland was also a pastor at Surf City Church in Huntington Beach between 2009 and 2014, and served as head pastor at Fountain Valley United Methodist Church for 26 years from 1988 to 2014. 2037

SAN YSIDRO (KGTV) - Two people were critically injured in a car crash Sunday night after a driver sped through the Port of Entry. The crash happened around 10:15 p.m. on Dairy Mart Road near Interstate 5. According to police, a driver in a Chevrolet Silverado drove through the port of entry without stopping before crashing head-on into a Mitsubishi Lancer. One person was in the truck and another in the car at the time of the crash. Both were critically injured. The California Highway Patrol later confirmed to 10News that the driver of the truck is suspected of driving under the influence. 604

School is back in session at Ohio State University. However, more than 200 students aren't returning to the classroom just yet after they were suspended for violating the school's new coronavirus pandemic policy.Ohio State leaders say 228 students broke campus guidelines about social gatherings since returning to campus.Students began moving back to the Columbus campus on Aug. 19. Upon their return, the university told students they needed to wear masks, practice social distancing and limit their get-togethers to no more than 10 people.There's no word on how long the students' suspensions will last, but school leaders hope it will show others how serious they are about controlling the spread of COVID-19 on campus.Several other large universities across the country have been forced to suspend classes after large outbreaks of the virus on campus. Notre Dame shifted to remote learning after 150 students tested positive for COVID-19 after a week on campus. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill made a similar shift after 130 students tested positive for the virus after a week of classes.Also last, school administrators at Syracuse University admonished a group of students for holding a large gathering on the school's quad, adding that the even may have already derailed plans for in-person learning. 1332

(KGTV)— The border shutdown at the San Ysidro Port of Entry Sunday created a ripple effect for transportation and nearby businesses.Many people were stranded at the port crossing for five hours before Homeland Security reopened the lanes in the evening. Christmas shopping at the Las Americas Outlet Mall came to an abrupt stop for Maria Martinez. "The mall was closed. She was shopping when she was told to leave the mall suddenly. Minutes prior, she claimed she saw a swath of caravan migrants rush the back of the mall, which the CBP denies."I saw the Salvadorenos people trying to cross the border,” Martinez said. “It was like watching a movie. I couldn’t believe it. I saw everything.”Customs and Border Protection closed off the San Ysidro Port of Entry late Sunday morning. Then the California Highway Patrol blocked off both the 805 and 5 Freeways south of the 905 interchanges. American federal agents in full tactical gear lined up along the border, at times using tear gas and rubber bullets to deter migrants.  "Over there, there was smoke and the noise of the gun,” Martinez said. At this point, there are no reports of any of the migrants successfully crossing the border. Martinez said she saw federal agents turn them around. The bus depot next to the mall was also closed, leaving shoppers like Martinez stuck and not knowing when they could get home. "I don't know. I think it's going to close the border. When everything is in peace, they are going to open. What time? I don't know,” Martinez said. By 5:15 pm, all operations at the San Ysidro Port of Entry resumed.  1883
