(KGTV) - Activists are demanding the Oceanside Unified School District give all its teachers cultural sensitivity training after middle school students turned in a deportation themed board game for a class assignment.The game was called ‘Deportation Time’ and featured offensive themes about immigration - players had to blow up the border wall in the game to cross over to the U.S.“The board game issue is disappointing,” said activist Karen Plascencia, “it’s disappointing, but it’s not surprising.” Plascencia is with the Human Right Council of Oceanside.The HRCO and MEChA de MiraCosta are asking the district for cultural sensitivity training sessions, forums for immigrant families, and to form a committee on ethnic studies.RELATED: Oceanside middle school students create 'border crossing' game called 'Deportation Time'“We firmly believe if that teacher had gone to cultural sensitivity training that involves undocumented youth, she wouldn’t have approved of such a cruel and humiliating board game so easily” said Plascencia, “she would have understood that there are students within OUSD that are suffering deportation of their family the family separation that this is affecting students now as we speak.”OUSD Superintendent Dr. Julie Vitale wrote a statement on the board game saying: 1329

One inmate was shot and at least five others were injured during a riot at Tehachapi Prison on Sunday, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation confirmed.According to CDCR, six inmates were hurt during a riot that broke out at the facility Sunday afternoon at about 1:33 p.m. Five were injured during the riot itself and another was shot by an officer "in the buttocks area," CDCR said.The inmate who was shot was transported with non-life threatening injuries. The condition of the other five injured inmates is unclear at this time. No guards or staff were hurt.CDCR says three shots were fired during the incident. OCEANSIDE, Calif. (KGTV) — Firefighters battled a fire at a North County residence Saturday.The 3-alarm blaze was reported in the 1400 block of Division Street just after 2:30 p.m., according to an Oceanside Fire Battalion Chief. It took fire crews an hour to get the upper hand in the firefight, due to the wind and lack of resources, according to fire officials.Three people were injured. Two people were transported to UCSD hospital for burn injuries. One man was burned on the arm, according to his father, Alfredo Muruato. Muruato said his son and his daughter-in-law were asleep when the fire started and were awoken by the dog.Another resident, Carla Vega, described the harrowing ordeal. She said she was in the shower when she heard a loud boom, "I peeked out my head and smelled fire so I got out of the shower... I just saw a bunch of smoke everybody running." She said everyone was panicked. When she returned to remove her things, she said everyone was going to have to find another place to live. "Everything is replaceable, it is materialistic, my life is not materialistic, that’s what matters, I got myself out, my dog," Vega said.The Red Cross is assisting more than 30 people were displaced in the fire.The cause of the fire is still under investigation. OMAHA, Neb.  - The DEA is warning police and parents to be on the lookout for marijuana and methamphetamine laced candy this Halloween.The DEA and police agencies throughout the country have seen an increase of seizures of drug-laced edibles, including but not limited to chocolates, suckers and gummies. The DEA's Omaha Division has not identified any specific threats but issued an advisory.The items are often professionally packaged and can easily be mistaken for regular candy or baked goods. Last year the DEA found marijuana-laced candies sold in packages labeled; Munchy Way, 3 Rastateers, Twixed, Keef Kat and Rasta Reese's; had been collected during Halloween.Signs of marijuana or meth-laced candy include unusual wrapping, appearance, unusual colors, odd smell, misspelled candy labels, or candy or food that is unwrapped or unmarked.Parents and caregivers should seek immediate medical attention if a child ingests drug-laced candy and then contact local police. 988
