The bigger the family, the more you spend. San Marcos resident Melanie Anderson says the grocery bill for her family of six was around ,500 a month.“I went to the store with no plan. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Two men were stabbed and an officer was headbutted after a fight erupted between two groups outside a Gaslamp District nightclub.Two large groups of men were ejected from Phantom nightclub on Fifth Avenue shortly before 2 a.m. and got into a street fight outside, San Diego Police said. During the altercation, two men were stabbed.One of the victims, a 22-year-old man was stabbed in the abdomen and taken to a nearby hospital. The other victim, a 24-year-old, received lacerations to his stomach, arms, and hands. Police say he was uncooperative and refused medical attention. Minutes later, he was contacted at 1200 3rd Avenue and fought with the responding officers, SDPD said.During the altercation, the man headbutted an officer and attempted to gouge out the eyes of another officer, police said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Two men wearing masks and gloves robbed a City Heights jewelry store Friday.One of the men jumped a display counter and confronted an employee of the Eclipse Jewelry Store at 4213 University Ave. just east of Interstate 15, police said.One man took jewelry from display trays and put it in a bag while the second man pointed a gun at the employee.The owner told 10News the men got away with about ,000 worth of mostly gold chains. He also said he thought perhaps the men had been in the store before since they seemed to know exactly what they wanted. Both men ran off and were last seen getting into a silver colored late model Toyota or Honda heading east.No one was injured in the robbery. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Too many young military families in San Diego are finding themselves trapped in mountains of debt, not knowing where to turn.It's a devastating problem that the nonprofit Support the Enlisted Project (STEP) is working to tackle."It's a real challenge, and I think we are setting these families up for failure a lot of the times," said Tony Teravainen, CEO and Co-founder of STEP. STEP helps prevent roughly seven evictions each month for young military families. "As a country, we don't have great financial habits. And what we see is when families enter the military we put additional burdens on them, and a lot of times this pulls them further, further into debt.
