(KGTV) — Oceanside Police are asking the public for help finding a missing, at-risk woman who disappeared early Friday following a distressing phone call.Police said Yolanda Michelle Combs, 42, was last heard by her daughter over the phone Friday morning, before her phone suddenly disconnected. Combs' daughter said her mom sounded like she was in distress and needed help. No one has been able to reach Combs since, police said.She is described as a white female, standing 5-foot-2, and weighing about 140 pounds. She has shoulder-length red hair and hazel eyes. OCEANSIDE, Calif (KGTV) -- A pedestrian was struck and killed by a semi-truck on Interstate 5 near Mission Avenue early Thursday morning.According to California Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was standing in the middle of the southbound lanes around 2:30 a.m. when they were hit. Deputies say the victim was killed instantly.The semi-truck driver did stay at the scene.Deputies are investigating why the victim was in the middle of the freeway. 452

(KGTV) - An Oceanside family is grieving the loss of a 18-year-old honors student discovered dead from an overdose linked to fentanyl.For big sister, Jill, and dad, Duncan, it's hard to think of life without Brianna Moore."It's hard to talk about. She's my little sister," said a tearful Jill."We miss her so much. She had a bright future ... She was always so motivated," said Duncan.By the age of 14, Briana had run two marathons. She excelled at soccer and the violin. The honors student was accepted into a scholarship program at Stanford this summer but had to withdraw due to mental health issues, including depression.Amid the recent protests aimed at racial injustice, Brianna was called to action."She was inspired by the movement. She wanted her voice to be heard," said Jill.Her participation took her to Los Angeles."She started off with a good crowd that wanted to help people, and over time, she just met the wrong people," said Jill.Brianna was due back home Aug. 11 for orientation at Cal State San Marcos, but she never made it home.Inside a park in Echo Park, Los Angeles, a memorial marks the area where on Aug. 9, Brianna's body was discovered in a tent. The family says they were told by the medical examiner's office that Brianna died from an overdose: cocaine secretly laced with fentanyl.Earlier this month, law enforcement officials issued a warning about a large local spike in deaths linked to the synthetic opioid fentanyl. Experts say amid the COVID-19 pandemic, people may turn to substance abuse to deal with stress. Brianna's family suspects she recently began experimenting with drugs. Nurses at an assisted living facility in Glendale, Arizona are facing backlash for filming and making fun of elderly patients. The video ended up posted to the social media site 'Snapchat'. The incident occurred at the Glencroft Senior Living facility.  An administrator from Glencroft told Phoenix-based KNXV that the facility cannot discuss personnel issues, but did learn about the video Monday morning and is taking the situation seriously. The video shows an elderly woman using a walker as she advances toward the camera. She is obviously agitated, telling the workers she "almost fell" and is seen asking for her pills. Instead of helping the woman, the nurses continue filming as they watch the woman and mock her.The video came to light after a whistleblower saw it on social media and alerted KNXV, as well as Glencroft, and the Arizona state agency that licenses nurses.She is also a nurse and said she knows the woman who made the video from nursing school. "It just disgusted me that you would treat someone like this," said the whistleblower, who asked to remain anonymous. "This lady obviously has some dementia or something going on."The whistleblower also said she is worried about violations of the patient's rights under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.  KNXV has reached out to the Arizona State Board of Nursing but has yet to receive an answer on this topic.  1468
