And what an exciting times it is, as the centerpiece of the plans includes a brand new stadium. "It will become the signature project that defines the future. Not only for SDSU, but for higher education in California," says San Diego State President Adela de la Torre.The project will include an innovative educations district, 86 acres of land used for a park and recreation, affordable housing, a hotel, and of course, a 35 thousand seat stadium "I can't wait to see the team run on to Basher field and enjoy the cheers of 35 thousand fans,"says de la Torre.Equally excited is Aztecs Director of Athletics JD Wicker."We are building a stadium for Aztecs football, international and professional soccer, concerts, and any other event you can think of. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Drivers in Torrey Highlands saw quite the sight as a hot air balloon landed in front of Westview High School Friday evening.A video circulating online shows traffic continuing to move around the balloon as it made a safe landing on Camino Del Sur.Lawrence and Andrea Sher said they are used to hot air balloons landing near their home on Bryn Glen Way, but said, this time, the hot air balloon was a bit too close for comfort. Vista Way was closed over three months ago due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but on Saturday, June 20, guests will be allowed to return.In a press release, officials said, “Boomers Vista will build upon its longstanding commitment to cleanliness and safety by implementing a series of measures following the recommendations of the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention and best practices within the amusement and attractions industries.”The following measures will be in place at the Vista facility:-- The center and mini golf course will operate under limited capacity-- Face coverings/masks required for all guests and staff members; kids under 3 won’t be required to wear face coverings, guests can remove masks when eating-- Employees will be we wearing personal protective equipment such as face shields and gloves-- Six feet of social distancing between parties are required; markers are posted throughout the property, including parking lots and entrances-- Temperature checks will be conducted for all guests and workers upon entry-- Guests and all staff are being asked to frequently wash hands-- Hand sanitizer stations will be located throughout the center-- Staff will carry out frequent sanitization of high-touch surfaces and rides and high-traffic locationsFacility General Manager Garrett Gross said, “The health and safety of our Guests and Team Members continues to be our number one priority as we work to welcome guests back to the Park. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Family grieved the loss of a father, mother and daughter after a raging fire at their Logan Heights home in October.Thursday evening Aunt Rosa Cortes explained how the two surviving children, Wendy, 23, and Angel, 16, were faring. She described areas of Wendy's back and shoulder healing from the burns, saying her skin is getting it's color back.She said her niece and nephew are having a hard time sleeping, saying in Spanish, "every noise, every sound scares them."The fire ignited October 13th, around 4:30 a.m.. Neighbors woke up to screams. Ultimately the father, Jose Antonio Romero Mayo, 44, Daughter Iris, 21, and mother, Nicolasa Mayo-Cortes, 46, died from their injuries.Aunt Rosa said Jose was her favorite brother. She called him her protector.Now she's protecting his two surviving children, saying they can continue staying with her as long as they need.Thursday the family reunited inside Faith on 54th in Oak Park.Cortes said the caskets remained closed and she didn't want to remember them the way they died.Her nephew, Wilber Romero, 26, was arrested on Arson and Homicide charges.She said Wendy and Angel haven't been told about their brother's possible involvement, instead waiting for them to heal before asking questions.Cortes said they need help, psychologically and monetarily to move forward. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Five more people died from the flu in San Diego last week.The new deaths, ranging in people aged from 47- to 77-years-old, all had underlying health conditions, according to the County Health and Human Services Agency.
