Now, financial experts are saying it won't last forever and advising clients to prepare for a downturn."You have to expect at some point, we're due," says Dennis Brewster of SagePoint Financial. "I think everybody's almost forgotten, look at earlier in the year, how sharp the markets broke back in February. So it wouldn't be unusual to see any of those declines coming up later this year or early next year."Brewster says he doesn't expect anything as drastic as 2008, but he still says investors should take a few steps to safeguard their earnings and even make the downturn work in your favor.A lot of it, he says, depends on how close you are to retirement."When you look at the year to year returns, they're all over the board. When you look at the 20-30 year returns they're very close," says Brewster. "If you're younger and have 20-30 year horizons, the day to day gyrations are almost noise to you. But if you're getting closer to retirement or in retirement, then you have to be more careful."'Brewster looked up numbers from the S&P 500 for the last 20 years. He says someone who invested ,000 in 1998 would have lost about ,300 after the crash in 2008. But if they kept their money in until 2018, that same ,000 investment would now be worth more than ,000.He says older investors should be more conservative with their portfolios. Younger investors should increase how much they invest if the market falls, to take advantage of lower prices.As for when the correction could come, Brewster says it's too tough to predict. But he says to watch out for "triggering" events that could rattle the market, some of which may already be happening. Neighbors were mixed on whether it will affect crime.Police and neighbors celebrated the new curfew Friday at City Heights Square Mini Park. Police said since January 2019 there's been 217 crimes reported within 1,500 feet of the park, ranging from assault to theft.READ RELATED: Neighbors celebrate nightly curfew at San Diego parksRonald Tieken said he spearheaded the initiative, putting together a survey that he said 50 seniors in the building bordering the park responded to. He said the curfew is the first step in turning the tide in the neighborhood.Other neighbors disagree."It's probably going to up the rate of crime in this neighborhood," Ephraim Denmon III said they just need more people who will stand up to crime to fill the park. He said that or hire a security guard."If grown folks are in a grown folks park then they should let grown folks be grown folks," he said arguing the curfew takes away from the neighbors surrounding the park."You have your low income and your seniors, the seniors spend most of their time out here after midnight... SAN DIEGO COUNTY (KGTV)-- While most beaches in San Diego County are entirely closed due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Coronado, Torrey Pines, and Oceanside do not have hard-closures. However, most of the visitors at the still-open beaches were doing their part in maintaining proper social distance. Get out and stretch out. Many people found one of the rare places in San Diego County to do so: Coronado Beach. "All the gyms, and everywhere you can get a little exercise, are closed," Manhattan Beach resident, Ryan Darling said. "I actually came out just to stretch my legs a little bit and get out of the house to do some lunges." Darling is visiting a friend in Coronado. He was worried the beach here would be packed. But many are finding it to be pretty mellow. "It's just as nice to see that it's not crazy on this nice, beautiful Saturday," Coronado resident, Brenda Byrnes said. Coronado Lifeguards periodically make announcements over the loudspeakers to take enforcement to the next level. "We're trying as hard as we can to keep the beach open. So we ask that you guys remain in motion," lifeguards said. If they see anyone loitering, sunbathing, or quietly sitting on the sand, they tell them to get a move on. It's a message most people seem to be following. "I went the whole way, and we just wave hi to one another from six feet and keep going," Darling said. The same goes for Oceanside. The beaches there have similar soft-closure rules. The parking lots, Pier, picnic areas, and playgrounds are closed. Congregating is strictly prohibited. These cities are following State guidelines practiced at Torrey Pines State Beach. Parking lots are closed, so visitors must hike into the beach. But some fortunate folks found street parking. "It's our lucky day!" visitor, John Hughes laughed. "Get out, get some sun, and then we'll go back home and hibernate."So far, visitors at the still-open beaches seem to be taking social distancing seriously. It's because if they do not, they know this luxury may be taken away at any time. "I hope they remain open, and to be used just the way they are right now," Byrnes said.
