Some Facebook users can now see whether their data may have been obtained by political data firm Cambridge Analytica.On Monday, the social media giant began rolling out a "see how you're affected" tool at the top of News Feeds to inform users if they're among the tens of millions of people who had their data improperly harvested by Cambridge Analytica.The full roll out will happen over time, so not all users will see the link at the same time.Users who were not affected will see a different link highlighting which apps are connected to their Facebook accounts and what data those third parties can see. The link also directs users to a tool that allows them to disconnect apps from accounts.Last month, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg promised to "show everyone a tool at the top of your News Feed with the apps you've used and an easy way to revoke those apps' permissions to your data."Facebook has also said it will reviews thousands of apps to search for additional abuse."If we find developers that misused personally identifiable information, we will ban them and tell everyone affected by those apps," Zuckerberg said.Facebook has been under fire since the Cambridge Analytica news broke last month. The controversy has raised questions about whether the social media giant does enough to protect user information.Last week, Facebook said Cambridge Analytica may have had information on about 87 million Facebook users without the users' knowledge. Previous reporting had put the number of users at about 50 million.The data obtained was originally collected by University of Cambridge professor Aleksandr Kogan who used an app called "thisisyourdigitallife," which offered a personality test. Facebook users who downloaded the app granted it permission to collect data on their location, friends and things they Liked. Someone is making death threats against a 10-year-old girl at her school in Framingham, Mass.The girl is a fifth grader at Hemenway Elementary and the two notes directed at her have now drawn the attention of Framingham Police.It was Friday morning when the Muslim youngster went to her classroom cubby and found a note calling her a “terrorist.”“She was visibly upset, she was crying,” her uncle Jamaal Siddiqui said. “That’s not what Islam teaches, and that’s not what Muslims are.”Her uncle says the principal visited each classroom urging the culprit to come forward with an apology and sent an email to parents condemning the incident.“Hate is not brought from birth, it is embedded into a human being either by parents or their surroundings,” Siddiqui said.On Tuesday morning, there was a second note, this time saying “I will kill you.”“Just the thought of that makes me feel sick to my stomach,” Siddiqui said.The principal quickly brought the superintendent and police onboard, but despite their safety concerns, the little girl’s family has not pulled her out of class.“If we take her out of school it’s just going to show that we can’t stand up to the situation,” Siddiqui said.The principal says many classmates have rallied around the student and some disgusted parents did the same.“It’s absolutely devastating and I don’t want this to happen in my child’s school at all,” one parent said.“It’s nuts basically,” another parent said. “Hard to believe this thing could happen.”So far, school officials and police have not been able to ID the handwriting or trace the notebook paper.Her family has urged the young victim to smile through it and not become bitter, but know that’s a tall order for a 10-year-old.“It’s sad, it’s sad that kids at such a young age have to deal with this,” Siddiqui said.The girl’s parents will meet with school officials and police Wednesday to discuss a safety plan going forward.The FBI announced Tuesday that hate crimes in this country are up 17 percent this year. 2017

Six people have been arrested after Saturday's apparent assassination attempt on President Nicolas Maduro in the Venezuelan capital of Caracas, the nation's interior minister said on national TV.Maduro survived the assault after several drones armed with explosives flew toward him during a speech at a military parade, an attack he blamed on far-right elements and Colombia's outgoing president, Juan Manuel Santos.Those arrested are accused of "terrorism and assassination," Interior Minister Nestor Reverol said Sunday.Reverol said one of the detained had an outstanding arrest warrant for his alleged role in the August 2017 attack on a military base in Valencia. 675
