TULSA -- More details are coming out about the woman who police in Oklahoma say brutally stabbed her 11-year-old daughter Monday night. Friends and family of Taheerah Ahmad said they are in complete shock that the mother could do something like this.Those close to Ahmad painted two different pictures of her. One picture is of a caring mother who loves her children in the public eye, and the other is an abusive, unstable mother inside of her home.“Whenever she would talk about her kids, everything was always positive. She never said anything crazy,” said a former coworker of Ahmad.The coworker, who didn’t want to go on camera with Scripps station KJRH in Tulsa, said she always seemed normal enough.“She would go out with us," the former coworker said. "She would have drinks with us. She just seems like a very nice person.”But as her coworkers got close to her, they said they noticed something was off and would start noticing little things about Ahmad. “I know she went by at least four different names,” a coworker said.Her coworker said whenever a shooting took the life of one of Ahmad's friends last year, Ahmad changed and became sad.Her coworker said she brought up her children all the time and always talked about them in positive ways.But neighbors said that’s just what Ahmad was telling her friends.RELATED: Suspect in Amber Alert, stabbing of daughter seen smiling after arrestMultiple neighbors, who also didn’t want to go on camera, said they often heard screaming from inside the home and said there was something eerie about the house.One neighbor even said several nights in the past week, he would see Ahmad performing what appeared to be rituals late at night around a fire.“I really don’t know if there’s any reasoning behind this, but I just hope whatever is wrong gets fixed,” the neighbor said. The mother is in jail on one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, two counts of child neglect and one count of arson.The 11-year-old’s condition is still critical.  2103

(KGTV) — A former North County school security guard was arrested this weekend, accused of sending inappropriate pictures to children online.Steven Lloyd Duncan, a former security guard from 2003 to 2014 at Valley Center High School, was arrested on Dec. 10 by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC). He has been charged with multiple counts, including obscene material of a minor and luring a minor, according to his arrest log.Investigators say Duncan had communicated with and sent photos to underage children and received photos from children. Valley Center Pauma Unified School District (VCPUSD) said in a statement they have been informed told "none of the identifiable victims are from our community." Anyone who thinks they've been a victim or knows anyone who may have been a victim is asked to contact the ICAC at 858-715-7100.VCPUSD says they are cooperating with ICAC's investigation:"The safety of our students and staff is a top priority. We respond and react immediately to any reports of this nature. In partnership with the (ICAC), VCPUSD advises parents to be aware of their children's online activity. We recommend parents use parental filters on smartphone and computers," the district said in part. After the tragedy, the company halted testing of its self-driving cars on roads in North America.Uber's self-driving permit in California goes until March 31 -- and the company said it will let the permit expire."We decided to not reapply for a California DMV permit with the understanding that our self-driving vehicles would not operate on public roads in the immediate future," an Uber spokesperson said in a statement to CNN on Tuesday.Uber's statement comes after several news outlets, including CNN, obtained a letter sent by DMV deputy director and chief counsel Brian Soublet to Uber's public affairs manager, Austin Heyworth on Tuesday regarding its permit.Soublet wrote that if and when Uber applies for a new autonomous vehicle testing permit, it will "need to address any follow-up analysis or investigations from the recent crash in Arizona an may also require a meeting with the department."The news of the letter was first reported by the San Francisco Chronicle.The Tempe Police Department and the National Transportation Safety Board have launched investigations into the crash.Last week, Boston's government asked self-driving companies operating in the city to halt operations while safety procedures are reviewed. Two men attempting to get food samples at a Costco in South Carolina ended up fighting after one cut line in front of the other.The State news outlet in Columbia reports on July 26, a 70-year-old man was waiting in line for a free sample of cheese when the other man involved, who is 72 years old, cut in front of him, took a sample and walked away.It happened again when the 70-year-old man moved to a line for free samples of cheeseburgers. The 72-year-old man again cut the line in front of him. That's when things got heated, according to The State.The two men exchanged words, and the 72-year-old slapped the 70-year-old, according to witnesses and the police report that was filed.
