The Southeastern Conference has had to postpone or cancel three games this week because of positive COVID cases among several football programs."While it is unfortunate to have multiple postponements in the same week, we began the season with the understanding interruptions to the schedule were possible and we have remained focused throughout the season on the health of everyone around our programs," said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey in a press release on Tuesday. "We must remain vigilant, within our programs and in our communities, to prevent the spread of the virus and to manage activities that contribute to these interruptions."The conference has postponed Saturday's game between No. 20 Auburn and Mississippi State because of positive COVID-19 cases and quarantining within the Bulldogs' program. In a press release, the conference had to reschedule the game between the Tigers and Bulldhad to Dec. 12.On Tuesday, the conference announced that No. 5 Texas A&M would not face Tennessee because of positive COVID-19 cases and quarantining within the Aggies' program. The Volunteers and Aggies game has been rescheduled to Dec. 12, the conference said.A&M had to pause in-person activities on Monday after a player and a staff member tested positive for COVID-19 after returning from South Carolina. The conference also had to postpone Saturday's LSU game against No. 1 Alabama due to an outbreak within the LSU program.LSU already has a game on Dec. 12 because they're facing No. 6 Florida Gators, which was pushed back from October due to a COVID outbreak within the Gators program.Because LSU has a game tentatively scheduled for Dec. 12, the opportunity to reschedule Alabama at LSU game will need to be evaluated," the SEC said. "The rescheduling of games on the remaining SEC football schedule may include Dec. 19 as a playing date."This isn't the first time LSU has faced an outbreak amongst the team.According to Lafayette Daily Advertiser, head coach Ed Orgeron said back in September that most of the team caught the virus over the summer. And Arkansas coach Sam Pittman will not coach when his team faces No. 6 Florida after he tested positive for COVID-19 twice, the AP reported. 2213

The St. Louis Police Department is investigating one of their own after he issued a ticket to a man who honked at him.According to an interview in the Riverfront Times, Scott Smith was on his way back to work when he honked at a car stopped at a green light. Video shot by the driver and given to the RFT shows a very tense interaction. The car was an unmarked police car. When pulled over, Smith says "seriously?"The officer than replies "Seriously, is your horn stuck?" to which Smith replies "Is your brake stuck?"That's when the officer cusses at the driver asking again "Is your f-ing horn stuck?"He demands to see his driver's license.Smith says he will, but asks for what."I'll tell you what, you can either show your driver's license or you'll get a ticket and I'll tow your car and lock you up," said the officer.Once again Smith asks why he's been pulled over and the officer says it is for a traffic violation."For honking at someone who's stopped at a green light?" Smith asks. He then calls the situation "f-ing ridiculous." "Well you know what? Maybe you shouldn't be a f-ing a-hole," the officer responds. The officer issued the driver a ticket, but the city counselor's office reportedly will not prosecute it, saying they do not believe it should be pursued."The Department has launched an Internal Affairs investigation into the incident you are inquiring about. At this point, it would be premature for the Department to comment on an ongoing investigation before it concludes," a St. Louis Police spokesperson said.  1557

The U.S. will finish the month of November with more than 4 million confirmed cases of COVID-19, by far the most it has recorded in any month since the beginning of the pandemic.According to a database kept by Johns Hopkins University, the U.S. recorded 4.3 million new cases of COVID-19 throughout the month of November. That represents more than 30% of the 13.3 million cases recorded throughout the country since the virus reached the U.S. in February.Throughout November, the U.S. set 10 daily records for newly-reported COVID-19 cases. The peak came on Friday, when Johns Hopkins says the U.S. saw more than 205,000 new cases — though those numbers may have been skewed by the Thanksgiving holiday when some local governments chose not to report new info. The mountainous increase in cases has resulted in a frightening increase in hospitalizations and hospital resource use. According to the COVID Tracking Project, a record 93,000 Americans across the country were hospitalized with COVID-19 as of Monday morning, an all-time record. On Oct. 31, that figure stood at just over 47,000. While hospitalizations have spiked across the country, 66% of those hospitalized are in the Midwest and South, meaning many rural hospitals in those regions are at capacity. With hospitals full, doctors and nurses are struggling to treat patients who are suffering from other emergency ailments.Sadly, the number of deaths from COVID-19 has steadily increased throughout the month. As of Monday morning, an average of 1,436 Americans had died of COVID-19 each day for the last week. On Oct. 31, that figure sat at just over 800. Therapeutics and new treatments for the virus have caused the death rate to fall since the springtime when nearly 2,500 Americans were dying every day. But despite the improvements in treatments, the U.S. continues to lose about as many Americans every two days that were lost in the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks. And while several companies have reported encouraging news regarding potential vaccines in recent weeks, health experts warn the pandemic will get much worse before they are widely available.Prior to Thanksgiving, Dr. Anthony Fauci — America's top infectious disease expert — warned that the holiday could cause the rate of transmission to rise exponentially, given that some celebrations included large indoor gatherings."The chances are that you will see a surge superimposed on a surge," Fauci said. 2450

The service academy game between Air Force and Army scheduled for Saturday at West Point, New York, was postponed Thursday due to an increase in COVID-19 cases at the Air Force Academy and the surrounding community."We are disappointed to postpone this game, but the health and safety of our cadets, staff, and the community continues to be our No. 1 priority at the Academy," Air Force Falcons Director of Athletics Nathan Pine said in a press release. "Due to the upward trends in our COVID numbers across the campus, we have paused all intercollegiate team activities."The Falcons can win the Commander-in-Chief’s Trophy with a win over Army. Air Force began the round-robin competition between the service academies with a 40-7 win over Navy on Oct. 3.The winning academy goes to the White House to receive the coveted trophy from the President.According to The Athletic's Stewart Mandel, this marks the seventh college football game this week to be postponed or canceled due to COVID.The schools are working to reschedule the game. 1044
