INDIANAPOLIS — A Roncalli High School board of directors member has resigned in response to the administration's actions against a guidance counselor who says she's been asked to either resign or "dissolve" her same-sex marriage. Shelly Fitzgerald is on paid administrative from Roncalli High School after she says someone sought out her marriage certificate, which shows she's married to another woman, and gave it to school leaders. READ | Roncalli counselor speaks out after she says she was asked to resign over same-sex marriage  | Former Roncalli students say counselor same-sex marriage controversy sheds light on school cultureDaniel Parker's says he submitted his resignation letter to Roncalli President Joseph Hollowell on Tuesday."I write to you today as a troubled member of the Roncalli family," Parker said in his resignation letter. "As a Roncalli parent, Board Member, and benefactor I have so many mixed emotions since I heard the unfortunate news on Friday night. Because those emotions have ranged from sadness to anger, I have waited to send this note for hope that this unexpected and unnecessary issue would change for the better. Based upon the Roncalli Administration's response yesterday, it appears that it will not."Parker also voiced his praise for Fitzgerald, who he says was his children's counselor and "one of the greatest assets at Roncalli High School." 1431

It only took one inning in Game 1 of the World Series for Taco Bell's annual promotion to come into fruition. Thanks to Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts' stolen base after getting a leadoff hit on Tuesday, everyone in America is eligible for a free Doritos Locos taco from Taco Bell on Nov. 1 from 2-6 p.m. According to MLB, the promotion is available at participating locations and while supplies last. 2018 marks the fourth year in a row that Taco Bell has given away tacos to everyone nationwide. Last year, Cameron Maybin earned a stolen base in the 11th inning of Game 2 of the World Series.  639

Incredible video captured by researchers at Florida Atlantic University captured the blacktip shark's annual migration off Florida’s southeast coast.FAU researchers refer to the blacktip shark's as the "snowbirds of the sea". The sharks migrate south during the cold months and head up north when the weather, and water, start to warm back up. They leave the north when water temperatures drop below 71 degrees Fahrenheit and start heading south. The video was taken by FAU researchers on February 27, right off MacArthur Park in Singer Island.“Last year, we saw a dramatic decline in the number of blacktip sharks that migrated south. In fact, it was so low that we estimated the population to be about one-third of what we have seen in previous years,” said Kajiura, a professor in the Department of Biological Sciences and director of the Elasmobranch Research Laboratory in FAU’s Charles E. Schmidt College of Science. “We want to make sure that these snowbirds come back to South Florida, because if they don’t, it will have a huge ecological impact in this region.”  According to researchers, this year's video off of  MacArthur Park in Singer Island shows dramatically fewer blacktip sharks during migration season as compared to video footage from previous years.       Mary Stringini is a Digital Reporter for ABC Action News. Instant soup -- often sold as "ramen" in the United States -- is cheap, tasty and wildly popular among hungry college students. But new research suggests that the products may put young children at risk. The soups cause about one in five childhood scald burns, according to research to be presented Monday at the American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference. Those findings have led some experts to question the safety of the meals, which often come in microwavable cups."It's important for us to remember, and for parents to remember, that these are just thin containers with boiling water in them," said Dr. Courtney Allen, a pediatric emergency fellow at Emory University who led the research."I think there's an assumption that these are safer than soups coming out of a stove," she said, "when, in fact, they're not." 835

In the race towards a COVID-19 vaccine, there have been a lot of hurdles. In the spring months, it was learning about a novel virus: how it spreads and affects the body. Then, it was developing a vaccine that was not only effective but safe. Now that Pfizer and Moderna have both announced vaccines with nearly 95-percent efficacy, the challenge is not developing one, but rather getting people to actually get the vaccines.“Maybe 10-15 percent of people are just never going to go get a vaccine because they feel strongly against it,” said Katy Milkman, a professor at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.Earlier in the summer, 72 percent of Americans said they would take a COVID-19 vaccine, according to a study by the Pew Research Center. But in the months that have followed, that number has steadily declined. Now, according to a recent Gallup poll conducted in early November, 42 percent of Americans said they would not get an FDA-approved COVID-19 vaccine. 1001
