SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County has issued eight cease-and-desist orders to College Area homes, including six affiliated with Greek life organizations, ahead of reported Halloween gatherings.The orders say the eight residences, "intends to hold large gatherings on October 30, 2020 - November 1, 2020 in blatant violation of the Order of the State Health Officer, the County Order of the Health Officer and Emergency Regulations, and CDPH's October 9, 2020 gathering guidance."If the residences hold large gatherings, the cease-and-desist letters say they may face, "actions necessary to enforce the orders and the gathering guidance," which can include criminal misdemeanor citations and a ,000 fine for each violation.RELATED: Stay-at-home advisory issued for San Diego State students over HalloweenGatherings in the state's Oct. 9 health order must include no more than three households.In a statement, County Public Health Officer Dr. Wilma Wooten said the county's livelihood is directly tied to the actions of all residents."We were compelled to take this action because there is a great deal at stake. Know that our place on one tier or another is not based on the state’s assessment, it is intrinsically tied to our personal and common efforts. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police are asking for the public’s help locating a suspect wanted for shooting and killing a 27-year-old woman.Police say Robert Reed reportedly shot Sylvianita Widman during an apparent road-rage incident on the 100 block of Meadowbrook Drive at 5:30 p.m. Monday.According to police, two cars were traveling north down Meadowbrook when they both stopped and the passengers got into an argument.RELATED: Woman dies after being shot in a Skyline intersectionWidman then reportedly approached Reed while he was in his car. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego County has seen two flu deaths and more than twice the unusual number of illnesses so far this season, health officials reported Wednesday. County Health and Human Services officials said the number of confirmed flu cases is more than double the past three-year average, putting this year on par with the severe 2017-2018 flu season. Seventy-seven San Diego County residents died of flu complications last season. Almost 10,000 became ill. More than 235 cases of flu were confirmed by Sept. 28, compared to 67 at this time last flu season. “People should get vaccinated now to avoid getting sick and infecting others,” said Wilma Wooten, M.D., M.P.H., County public health officer. “The vaccine is safe and effective and is available throughout the region.” The flu shot is recommended for everyone over six months old. It takes about two weeks for immunity to develop, according to health officials. Anyone who needs the vaccine and does not have health insurance can go to a County public health center.
