(KGTV) - A teenager is using chalk art to try and lift the spirits of her neighbors during the Coronavirus Pandemic.Lori Vildibill has covered the sidewalks of her street in inspirational messages and doodles, hoping they can make people smile."It's mostly things I had been saying to myself to try to get me to feel better," she says of where she got the ideas for dozens of messages. "Then I thought, I can't just write a bunch of words. Maybe I'll draw a little flower here and there to brighten up people's days."Lori, a Senior in High School, says missing out on things like prom, graduation, and yearbook signing because of Coronavirus had been somewhat depressing. She thought the drawings could change her moods, and also help her neighbors."I realized that I'm probably not the only person feeling that way, and if I can encourage people to just smile or get outside and walk, check out what I'm doing, it would be good for everyone," she says.Even though recent rain has washed away most of the drawings already, Lori says she'll replace them with new ones. PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. — Officials in Prairie Village say a garbage truck crashed into a house in Prairie Village Wednesday morning. Police said the driver fell out of the truck after turning onto Cedar Street from 83rd Terrace. The truck continued to roll and smashed into the corner of a home's garage.The homeowners were home at the time but were uninjured. A spokeswoman at Overland Park Regional Medical Center said the trash truck driver remains in critical condition."I opened the front door and the truck was barreling across my grass and all the sudden it hit and we shook,” said the homeowner, Rick Evrard.Michael Yates was remodeling a kitchen at a home across the street when he heard the crash.“All the sudden I heard the boom,” said Yates, “That’s when I looked out the window and I saw the truck was inside the house over there and the fellow was laying on the ground.”The man lying on the ground was the driver. Yates and Evrard ran to him to see if they could help him.“We got towels. He was bleeding profusely from his head,” said Evrard.Evrard was told his house is uninhabitable for the time being.The truck also clipped a gas meter and the gas was shut off for repairs.  1223

(KGTV) -- Two brothers have been arrested in a string of North County burglaries that occurred earlier this year, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday.On June 11, Daron Davon Turner, 38, and his half-brother, Daren Tyrone Turner, 25, were arrested in Poway for the burglaries.Authorities say an investigation connected the brothers to multiple residential burglaries. After searching several locations in Los Angeles County, authorities found several stolen guns related to the case.Daron is currently facing 10 felony counts of burglary while Daren faces five felony counts of burglary. Turner’s mother, girlfriend and uncle also have possible connections to the case.Their cases have been submitted to the District Attorney’s office, authorities say.
