The student eventually walked out of the office and ignored commands by school staff members. Eventually, the Assistant Principal asked the deputy to help bring the student back to the office. The deputy — an eight-year-veteran — said the student ignored his commands and "continued walking with his fist clenched and had an agitated expression on his face. His brows were turned down and he was punching his fist into the palm of his hand."The deputy said he got close enough to grab the student, but he turned and ran away. The deputy said the student "continued pulling away, twisting and turning his body."The deputy spun to the left and forced the student to the ground, according to the incident report. At a press conference on Wednesday, St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara said the deputy did not use excessive force, citing the moments prior to the incident that weren't caught on camera."Our school resource deputy is very familiar with this student and knows he has a violent history, including possessing weapons," Mascara said.According to Mascara, the school officials recently confiscated a knife from the student. Staff members at the school have also been forced to escort him around campus because he's been physically aggressive to staff and students. The student had also been arrested five days before the incident and is currently in DIverison Program. "At the end of the day the deputy did everything he could to diffuse the situation, and his use of force fell within the legal and our agency guidelines," Mascara said.Mascara added that the deputy involved has no complaint for excessive use of force.Despite the Sheriff's ruling, family members of students at Lincoln Park Academy are still concerned. "That's kind of rough to be at a school campus, he didn't have to slam him down like that," said General Platt, a parent of twins who attend the school. "I would have freaked out if I saw that in person," said Jazmine Arias, the sister of a student at the school. "He's a kid, I don't think a little kid should be thrown to the ground like that." 2074

The Trump administration made it easier to buy these plans — allowing people to buy coverage for just under a year, versus the 90-day limit imposed by the Obama administration."The Trump Administration is rewriting the rules on guaranteed health care protections that millions of Americans depend on," said Baldwin, who's up for re-election this year in a state President Donald Trump won in 2016, in a statement. "These junk insurance plans can deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions and don't have to provide essential health services like prescription drugs, emergency room visits and maternity care."Baldwin also touted in her statement that more than 20 health organizations, like the American Heart Association and Planned Parenthood Federation of America, supported her effort. The Congressional Review Act is a law that Republicans have used extensively since Trump came into office to overturn Obama-era regulations.Sen. Lisa Murkowski, an Alaska Republican who voted against her party to protect the Affordable Care Act in 2017, told CNN that she would not be supporting Baldwin's resolution.Baldwin remained optimistic that the vote threshold could be met."Certainly, it's not over until the last vote is cast," Baldwin said. "What I would say is, many Republicans in the health care debate, especially last summer when they were talking with constituents who had pre-existing health conditions, promised that they would vote to help make sure they are protected. If they want to do that and follow through, tomorrow is a great opportunity."Baldwin said that she's had meetings and discussions on the Senate floor "over a period of time."GOP leaders blasted the Democratic proposal, saying it would take away a low-cost insurance option for families who Republicans argue were hurt by the Affordable Care Act, more commonly referred to as Obamacare."Surely, they must have a better answer than snatching away one of the remaining options that some Americans still prefer to anything Democrats have been able to come up," Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said before the vote. "Our constituents deserve more options, not fewer.""I think the most important thing to remember is that Obamacare is not the only way to get pre-existing condition coverage. There are better ways to do it," said Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn said. "That is what they would like to get people to buy into, and it's just fundamentally not true."But Democrats, still stinging from the bitter fight over the confirmation of now Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, are emphasizing this new rallying cry during the final four week push to the midterms, with one senior Democratic aide telling CNN, "The vote this week puts Republicans on record, and is just the start of our relentless focus on health care down the stretch."In remarks on the Senate floor on Tuesday, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called the Trump administration's rule on short-term health care plans "fundamentally misguided policy.""All of my colleagues should vote for this, but I suspect my colleagues on the other side of the aisle have a different idea because ever since taking control of congress and the presidency, Republicans have deliberately, relentlessly undermined Americans' health care," he said. 3295

The three Americans, Kim Dong Chul, Kim Hak-song and Kim Sang Duk, also known as Tony Kim, have been detained in North Korea for months.Donald Trump, who looks set to become the first sitting US President to meet a North Korean leader during a planned summit with Kim Jong Un, said last month his administration was fighting "very diligently to get the three Americans back."He also hinted at a potential development in their case Wednesday night Washington time in a tweet: "As everybody is aware, the past Administration has long been asking for three hostages to be released from a North Korean Labor camp, but to no avail. Stay tuned!"Kim Dong Chul has been in North Korean custody since before Trump was elected, the other two detainees were arrested last spring, after Trump's inauguration. 801
