Xi made the remarks when meeting with Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, AU Commission chairperson, in South Africa's executive capital, before he leaves for a summit on China-Africa cooperation in Johannesburg.
Both Xi and Conde are in Johannesburg for the second summit of the 15-year-old Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, which groups China, 50 African countries that have established diplomatic ties with China, and the Commission of the African Union.
"Both sides belong to one country... That fact and legal basis has never changed, and will never change," Xi said.
