SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A Southwest High School student was detained today for displaying what initially appeared to be a firearm over his home computer during a remote-learning class, police reported.A staff member at the Hollister Street campus reported the potential threat shortly before 9:30 a.m., according to San Diego police.Patrol personnel went to the teen's nearby Nestor-area home and called him out, then took him into custody for questioning, Officer Scott Lockwood said.After the youth -- who turned out to be in possession of a BB gun, not a real firearm -- complained of shortness of breath, medics transported him to Rady Children's Hospital for an evaluation.The student, whose identity was withheld, was not expected to face any criminal charges over the incident but will undergo a psychiatric screening intended to determine the motivation for his actions, Lockwood said. 895

The runway extension ranges between 370 and 800 feet.By 2030, it will support 4,600 jobs and generate over 0 million in business-related revenue, million in taxes, the report said.The total upgrade would cost 2 million, with the county paying million; while the federal government would take care of the rest, according to the county. By midday, repair crews had restored electrical service to all but 209 of the affected addresses, SDG&E advised. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A young man who fatally stabbed an Ocean Beach transient was convicted Friday of second-degree murder.Noah Mitchell Jackson, 21, was found guilty in the June 22, 2017, killing of 65-year-old Walter "Ras" Riley. Jackson is slated to be sentenced on Aug. 23.The victim -- an Ohio native nicknamed "the Incense Man" due to his practice of selling aromatic burning sticks at local farmers' markets -- was stabbed just before 12:30 a.m. that day. He was pronounced dead at UCSD Medical Center.Deputy District Attorney Michael Reilly said the victim was stabbed five times, with the killing blow entering his back, breaking several ribs and puncturing his heart.Jackson confessed to a friend that he stabbed Riley, according to the prosecutor, who alleged Jackson told the friend, "I got that guy. I stabbed that (expletive).""Those are the words of a murderer," Reilly told the jury.Reilly said that some time after the killing, Jackson had a friend drive him to Kellogg's Beach, where Jackson threw the murder weapon and his cellphone into the water. However, Iredale denied this alleged motive, as he said his client had substance abuse problems that led him to make several "completely random statements" to friends following the date of the killing. The attorney said the spitting incident involving Jackson's sister never occurred and "God only knows" why he said it.Iredale alleged that police originally had 20 to 30 suspects, but centered on Jackson due to a 911 call made about 90 minutes prior to Riley's stabbing.In that call, a recording of which was played for the jury, the mother of one of Jackson's friends said Jackson was at her home displaying erratic behavior and was saying he wanted to commit suicide.
