SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 15-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the shooting death of his father inside their Scripps Ranch home.At 8:39 p.m. Sunday, San Diego police responded to a report of a shooting at a home in the 11200 block of Affinity Court, near Scripps Ranch Boulevard.10News learned the suspected shooter's brother called 911 to report the incident.Officers arrived to find a 46-year-old Vietnamese man lying on a bedroom floor with at least one gunshot wound to his upper body. After life-saving efforts by paramedics, the man -- who was not immediately identified -- was pronounced dead at the scene.Officers combed the condominium complex and nearby area for the suspected shooter, who was identified as the victim’s 15-year-old son, but could not immediately locate him. Authorities later added that the boy is a Mira Mesa High School student. At about 1 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a reported sighting on Scripps Poway Parkway and saw the boy walking down the street. He was apprehended, and 10News learned the boy had a gun and additional ammunition with him at the time of his arrest. 1133

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A group of volunteers is working to make sure homebound seniors get the groceries they need during the Coronavirus Pandemic."We're just a group of friends that saw our Seniors needed help here in San Diego," says volunteer Sydney Prochnow.The effort started over the weekend when one of the volunteers saw an older man struggling to buy groceries. That sparked an idea and a flurry of texts. The call to action quickly turned into advocacy."We jumped on the chance," says volunteer Joshua Daguman. "People said, 'Hey, I can make a website,' 'I can make a GoFundMe,' 'I can do this.' The next day, within honestly four hours, we're up and running."They created StayHomeSD, a donation-based, volunteer-run organization that delivers bags of groceries to any senior who asks for help. The service is free.A GoFundMe donation account pays for the food and delivery costs. Daguman says if the seniors or their families want to pay for what they receive, they're asked to donate to the account."The reward is actually the hope we're bringing to people. In July, they created Light the Way Project and have been helping peers across San Diego, the U.S., and the world with virtual peer-to-peer webinars followed by Q & A sessions."When we talk about our experiences people younger than us they feel better and reassured about the future," said one of the group's administrators. "People appreciate we're doing this especially in a pandemic." The group covers relevant topics like competitive culture, dealing with stress and anxiety, and managing your time when learning from home. "We talked about different strategies such as sleep schedules, managing priorities, divide and conquer strategies, and how to take productive breaks."They promote their events through social media, word of mouth, and forums like NextDoor. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A brief pursuit involving a stolen BMW ended Wednesday morning near a nursing home parking lot.The incident began shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday when a new model BMW was reported stolen in Santee.Two hours later, San Diego police spotted the BMW traveling westbound on state Route 94 near the Euclid Avenue exit.When officers attempted to stop the car, the driver refused to pull over and sped away. With police in pursuit, the BMW made its way onto northbound Interstate 805, then transitioned to Interstate 15.The driver exited on Adams Avenue, crashed into a wall, and then got back on northbound I-15.After exiting Camino Del Rio South, police said the driver parked the stolen BMW in a nursing home parking lot in Mission Valley and ran away. The group was on a 21-foot boat looking for yellowtail when they came across the orcas. "Out of nowhere, one of them popped up right next to the boat 3 or 4 feet away from me…landed, splashed me, and splashed the whole side of the boat. I screamed,” witness Nathan Benge told Good Morning America. One of the killer whales had a playful interaction, performing a belly roll beneath the surface of the boat’s wake, GMA reported.
