(KGTV) - Smugglers tried to unload a boat full of marijuana next to multi-million dollar homes in Del Mar early Monday, the Border Patrol said.The panga came ashore between Carmel Valley Rd. and 4th St. about 3 a.m.Border Patrol agents said they detained at least two people who were unloading bales of marijuana.Each bundle of pot contained between 30 and 50 pounds of the plant.The smell of marijuana was strong a dozen feet away, according to 10News photographer Paul Anderegg.  510

Defense attorneys for the suspect in the Pittsburgh synagogue massacre entered a plea of not guilty Thursday to federal charges and requested a jury trial.Robert Bowers, 46, walked into court in wrist and ankle restraints Thursday, his second court appearance this week, after a federal grand jury indicted him on 44 federal charges in last weekend's slaying of 11 worshippers at the Tree of Life synagogue.During the arraignment, Bowers watched prosecutors and nodded periodically. He responded "yes" that he understood the penalties of the charges, and his public defender, Michael J. Novara, entered a plea of not guilty "as is typical," he said.Of the 44 charges, 32 counts are punishable by death, a grand jury filing released Wednesday said.The court hearing comes the same day that crowds of mourners will lay more victims to rest and as their memorials continue to grow.On Monday, Bowers had been brought to the courtroom in a wheelchair and only spoke to answer the judge's questions. DELAWARE COUNTY, Pa. — A mother was arrested in Ohio for allegedly creating child pornography of her own 3-year-old daughter, the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office announced on Tuesday.Kayla Parker, 26, of Dayton, Ohio, was charged with felonies including the sexual abuse and exploitation of children, endangering the welfare of a child and indecent assault.According to the office of Attorney General Josh Shapiro, Parker lived with her ex-boyfriend, David Carbonaro approximately four years ago. During that time, Parker committed inappropriate sexual acts with her daughter, the 3-year-old victim, including the creation of child pornography.“This is an egregious case – a mother who preyed upon and sexually abused her own three-year-old daughter,” Attorney General Josh Shapiro said.When investigators executed a search warrant at Carbonaro’s residence in July, they reportedly found hundreds of images and several video files of a 3-year-old girl in various stages of undress. At least one file depicted an adult female’s hand reaching inside the victim’s underwear.Carbonaro identified the victim and her mother to agents.According to a probable cause affidavit, Parker told investigators that, "Carbonaro would watch her abusing the victim and often masturbate during the act."During that same interview, Parker allegedly told investigators that, on numerous occasions during the time she lived with Carbonaro, she undressed and escorted her 3-year-old daughter to a bedroom, shut the door and left her alone with Carbonaro. Carbonaro was arrested in July, following the raid at his residence. He is currently awaiting trial in Delaware County for the possession, production and distribution of child pornography.Parker was recently arrested in Ohio and was extradited to Pennsylvania, where bail was set at million, pending a preliminary hearing on October 26. 1926

People who insist you smoke outside, people that freak out about paraphernalia sitting around," Green says of his issues with prior roommates.That's why Angeliki Gousetis created 420 Friendly Apartments — a Facebook group connecting fellow marijuana smokers who are looking for roommates with similar interests.The group doesn't find a place to rent. Dan Garfield, an attorney who specializes in cannabis law, says "it’s just as difficult to find a weed-friendly landlord as it is to find a tobacco-friendly landlord." And if you do find one, Garfield says, Be prepared to pay a larger security deposit.""There’s no worry that I’m a professional and because I’m in finance, I can’t be 420-friendly, so if, God forbid, somebody sees me, I have to hide myself. There’s no hiding. Just be yourself," said Gousetis, a New York realtor.She started the same group in New York before creating one in Denver over the summer. More than 3,000 people have already joined, including Green, who posted to the group he was in need of a place to live. He says within a matter of days, he found his new roommates.Gousetis says she's helped connect people in 25 states. She calls them bud-mates. The group is free to use.
