Allergan has recalled almost 170,000 sample packs of birth control pills because of a packaging error that could put consumers at risk for unintended pregnancy.According to the recall, four placebo capsules were placed out of order in a sample pack of Taytulla and the first four days of therapy had four non-hormonal placebo capsules instead of active capsules."As a result of this packaging error, oral contraceptive capsules, that are taken out of sequence, may place the user at risk for contraceptive failure and unintended pregnancy," The recall states. "The reversing of the order may not be apparent to either new users or previous users of the product, increasing the likelihood of taking the capsules out of order."Allergan says they are notifying customers by recall letter and is arranging for return of all recalled sample pack product with the lot #5620706 Exp. May 2019. Consumers who have the sample pack product with the associated lot number should notify their physician to arrange a return. Consumers with questions regarding this recall can contact Allergan by phone at 800-678-1605 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. A website tracking early voting numbers reports more than 23,500,000 votes have been cast in the 2020 presidential election as of Friday night. The US Election Project, run by Professor Michael McDonald at the University of Florida for the last few elections, is keeping track of early voting, mail-in and absentee ballot data states make available. The details of those ballots are not shared, these are just the raw numbers of how many ballots have been cast. The site is also tracking each state’s ballots cast as compared to the entire number of votes counted in the 2016 election. For the country as a whole, the more than 23.5 million ballots cast is about 17 percent of the total number of votes in the 2016 election. Some states appear to be on track to potentially reach their 2016 voter turnout number, or get very close, before the election. In Vermont, more than 136,000 ballots have been cast, that’s more than 42 percent of the total number of ballots cast in the 2016 election. In Texas, early voting started Tuesday and already more than 2,647,000 ballots have been cast. That’s almost 30 percent of the total number of ballots cast in 2016.Professor McDonald does track about a dozen states that report party affiliation of the ballots returned. Those numbers show a higher number of Democrats have returned their ballots compared to those identified as Republican. However, there is no way to tell who those ballots voted for exactly, and history shows Democrats typically have higher numbers of mail-in ballots, according to McDonald. 1557
According to a recent study, it is "highly unlikely" to become sick with COVID-19 after ingesting or touching food. The International Commission on Microbiological Specifications for Foods studied and found "no documented evidence that food is a significant source or vehicle for transmission of COVID.""While ingestion of the virus could potentially result in COVID-19 infection, oral transmission via food consumption has not been reported," the organization said. The committee went on to say that some countries don't need to restrict food imports, test imported products, or ask companies to state their products are coronavirus-free because there's "no documented evidence" that food is a carrier for COVID.They say that the focus should be on protecting food workers, consumers, and restaurant patrons from becoming infected by person-to-person contact. 866
