ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) - Escondido Police arrested a pastor who allegedly molested a young girl, authorities announced Friday afternoon.John Rodgers McFarland was taken into custody on Dec. 18 by the Escondido Police Department. The arrest occurred in Fullerton, where McFarland lived and worked. Escondido Police say the alleged incident happened in Escondido several years ago while McFarland was visiting family in the area.He has been charged with two counts of lewd acts upon a child under the age of 14. Since 2014, McFarland has been the head pastor at Orangethorpe United Methodist Church in Fullerton, according to the Fountain Valley Police Department. Before that, he had served as the head of Fountain Valley United Methodist church since 1988. He also was a pastor at Surf City Church in Huntington Beach from 2009 to 2014. According to the Fountain Valley Police Department, there may be other victims abused during his time in Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach. (KGTV) - An Encinitas woman was caught off guard when an intruder squeezed through a doggy door at her home.Just after 8 a.m. Tuesday, Lexie Linberg was in her upstairs bedroom, located just off Coast Highway 101, when she got an alert from her Ring doorbell camera. A man was knocking at her door. Thinking it was a delivery, Linberg didn't answer. Moments later, she got another alert: someone was in her back yard."I heard the doggy door flap. My dog was next to me, so I knew I had a problem. I ran over to the balcony, dropped down, and saw feet going through my doggie door and I started screaming," said Linberg.Surveillance video shows same man at her door walk into her back yard. He took off his jacket before squeezing through her 10-inch-wide, 20-inch-tall doggy door. "Complete panic actually," said Linberg. Linberg's panic was quickly pushed aside by adrenaline. "I yelled a lot of profanities, told him to get out of my house," said Linberg.Linberg, who has taken self defense classes, then armed herself. She declined to tell us what that weapon was."Anger. I was mad. I wanted to get the person that was coming to hurt me," said Linberg.Next to her was Stella, her 6-year-old Poodle, trained as a guard dog."Racing down the stairs with my dog, absolutely going for him at this point," said Linberg.Linberg raced into a downstairs room, just in time to see the man's feet in the dog door. This time, he was on his way out. She gave chase down the street. He got away, but not before cameras caught a good look."He needs to be caught. It was obvious he knew what he was doing. (KGTV) — An Escondido home that was engulfed in flames early Friday reignited for a second time later the same day.The home in the 800 block of Via Rancho Parkway first ignited just before 2:40 a.m., according to Escondido Fire Department. Fire investigators believe that the fire started in the home's garage and spread to the attic.One adult, three children, and five pets were inside the home when the fire began. The pets woke up one of the children, prompting the family to escape the home.One of the pets, a cat, died in the fire, according to Escondido Fire. The American Red Cross helped the family find lodging after being displaced.Later Friday, just before 6 p.m., the home re-ignited, prompting another round of firefighting.The cause of both fires has not been identified. 811

According to the district, the vandalism included “foul and homophobic language, and disturbing anti-Semitic imagery.” The images were drawn and taped to bathroom walls, the district says. “These images have also been shared by some through text and social media,” the district said in a letter.
