(AP) — Kanye West's petition to appear on New Jersey's ballot as a presidential candidate fails to pass legal muster because signatures are incomplete, and in some cases appear written in the same hand. That's according to a formal complaint filed with the state on Wednesday by election law attorney Scott Salmon. VALLEY CENTER, Calif. -- An 18-year-old motorcyclist was killed after a head-on crash with a sedan in Valley Center Saturday.The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. Saturday on Mac Tan Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.Officers say the 18-year-old was riding his motorcycle at a high speed when he came to a bend, lost control of the bike and slid into the opposing lane of traffic.The teen was the struck by 2004 Kia Spectra, CHP say.The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital where he later died. The driver of the sedan was uninjured.Officers say driving under the influence hasn’t been ruled out as a possible factor in the crash. 653

(see below for details) The products were sold between February 5 and June 3 of this year.According to the FDA, during a review of the packaging, the drug company discovered the dosing cups were missing the 5mL and 10mL graduations. Uncertainty has ruled the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, as schools work to get students back in the classroom, school districts are working with uncertainty as they expect there to be a significant shortage of substitute teachers. “It’s a mathematical certainty that we’ll be opening up schools without enough teachers,” said Nicola Soares, president of Kelly Education, a substitute teacher recruiting firm that places more than a million substitute teachers in classes across the country. “We’ve been working around the clock anticipating what that demand was going to be, and I think every single school district is going to require substitute teachers.” The substitute teaching shortage began long before the pandemic began, but Soares expects the virus to only exacerbate the problem. In the mid-2000s, Kelly Education found 10 percent of incoming college freshmen were pursuing a degree in education. Today, that number has fallen to 4.5 percent. Add in the fact that many substitute teachers are older retirees, and they might choose not to come back to the classroom this fall because of the health risks associated with the novel coronavirus. “I love my job. I know a lot of subs say it’s not worth it to go back [because] we make just above minimum wage,” said Kathryn Barrett, a substitute teacher in Florida. Barrett says the pandemic has put many substitutes at the middle of the crossroads, where they feel compelled to work because many have been struggling with unemployment, but at the same time they do not want to risk their health or the health of their families. Many substitutes move from school to school during the week, Barrett says, increasing the risk of contracting the virus and then spreading it. “There’s just a lot of unknown right now for substitutes,” she said. Kelly Education took a survey of more than 2,000 educators and administrators nationwide. Those teachers estimated teacher vacancy rates would increase come the fall, and the need for substitutes would rise by 71 percent over the course of the next five years. To incentivize people to take up substitute teaching states has adjusted. In Iowa, the governor suspended the limit on how long a substitute teacher can teach a certain class. TULSA, Okla. — Several Tulsans are outraged after Spanish-speaking families were turned away during a holiday toy registration at Loaves and Fishes ministry."My children are Hispanic. We speak predominantly Spanish at home, so for someone to be turned away for their language it really offended me," said Megan Aviles, who witnessed the incident. It was Tuesday when Aviles stood in line with her two daughters waiting to register for the ministry's annual toy giveaway. She noticed several Hispanic women in front were being denied access to the registration because they didn't speak English."I went forward to try and assist and was like 'look, I can translate for these women. I'm bilingual,' " said Aviles.However, the pastor and executive director of the organization admitted he didn't allow her or anyone else to translate for the families."The reason I didn't use one of our guests or a family member or even a child is my experience with interpreters is they don't necessarily interpret what I say," said pastor Al Poncel.He said he would feel more comfortable having interpreters he knows, so nothing is lost in translation. Poncel said this is the first time that he has ran into a language issue at the ministry after years of being with the organization, but still he felt he made a mistake by turning away the families just because he didn't have the staff to help with the high demand."I didn't want to hurt anybody's feelings. I didn't want to offend anybody. I want to help as many people as I can," said Poncel.He said he is looking at ways to improve and be more inclusive of the needs of the community, so he is already looking at partnering with other local ministries and organizations to help interpret in the future."The 18 and 19 is going to be big days of our Christmas outreach.
