in Arizona over the weekend.Officers with the Prescott Police Department responded to a report of a disorderly female wearing a wedding dress who tried to assault an employee at a local business.Once police contacted a group of people at the location, officers say 32-year-old Eric Cordova became aggressive and refused to cooperate. He allegedly fought with the officer and both fell to the ground. During the struggle, several people that were with Cordova began to assault the officer and refused to obey commands, according to the department.Additional officers arrived on scene and eventually gained control of the group.Among them was 30-year-old Ashely Jordan, who was still wearing her wedding dress. Young people are notorious for skipping elections, and it's a problem voting advocates have tried solving for decades.This year, they had a big uphill battle, mobilizing future voters virtually.“Pre-pandemic, you and I would probably be interviewing in this beautiful student union of ours," said Armando Sepulveda II. “We would have candidates talking to students, meeting students.”A senior at San Diego State University, Sepulveda is Rock the Vote Chair at his school, working on getting as many students as possible registered to vote. “We were going into the dark because we didn’t have any pre-context of how we could handle a Rock the Vote campaign during a pandemic," said Sepulveda. They couldn’t hold large gatherings to register students to vote or hold candidate debates in auditoriums. On-campus posters were replaced with posts online.“We acknowledged that social media was a great platform to get apathetic students because regardless of what they’re doing during the day, they’re probably going to log onto Instagram at least once or twice," said Sepulveda.To keep students from scrolling past their message, Sepulveda's team focused on design, creating easy-to-read, digestible content. “We wanted to make it as simple and visually interesting as possible," he said. Court records show that on January 9, Geraldine Wedin fell out of her bed at her home near 35th Avenue and Bell Road. After four days, her live-in son called family members to help him get Geraldine back into bed. Investigators say the family was "horrified at the living conditions." Hospital workers reported to police that Geraldine was suffering from septic shock, Pneumonia, hypothermia, and had an open finger fracture. She died a month later. Wedin reportedly told police that his mother refused to go to the hospital, so he fed her nutrition shakes and water, and treated her sores with peroxide and antibiotic ointment. Court records show that Geraldine hadn't been to a doctor in two years. Neighbors allegedly told police that the condition of the home "severely declined" when Wedin moved in two years ago.
