LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Prosecutors recommended Friday that Oscar-nominated actress Felicity Huffman serve one month behind bars and pay a ,000 fine for her role in the college admissions cheating scandal, according to a filing in Boston federal court. They said that Huffman's ``efforts weren't driven by need or desperation, but by a sense of entitlement, or at least moral cluelessness, facilitated by wealth and insularity.'' In her four-page letter to the judge, Huffman wrote that she was driven to participate in the college admission fraud out of ``desperation to be a good mother. I talked myself into believing that all I was doing was giving my daughter a fair shot.'' She added that she sees ``the irony in that statement now because what I have done is the opposite of fair'' and feels ``a deep and abiding shame over what I have done.'' LOS ANGELES (AP) — One of the deadliest accidents in recent U.S. maritime history was the fault of the owners of a dive boat whose lack of oversight resulted in a fire that swept through the vessel and killed all 34 people in their bunks below deck. The National Transportation Safety Board says Tuesday the Conception's captain failed to post a roving night watchman aboard the Southern California scuba dive vessel, which allowed the fire to quickly spread and trap the 33 passengers and one crew member. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities believe rising rapper Pop Smoke was shot and killed during a Los Angeles home-invasion robbery in February after his social media posts led five suspects to the house he was renting. Police arrested the suspects Thursday morning in Los Angeles. Pop Smoke's legal name is Bashar Barakah Jackson. Police had initially discounted a robbery theory in the days after the 20-year-old New York rapper's death Feb. 19 at a home in the Hollywood Hills. Now, authorities say the group likely went to the home because they knew Pop Smoke was there from the social media posts. 604

A Grinch is tip-toeing around outside windows of unsuspecting children, to bring delight and a moment of joy this holiday season.In a neighborhood full of Christmas cheer, the Grinch was ready to strike with fear. He didn’t exactly attempt to hide as the children sat inside.Dressed from head-to-toe as the Grinch, Ethan Hecker, 14, banged on the window of a home and was met with laughter and joy, but little did they know, he was there to steal their Christmas cheer.“My goal is to scare the kiddos, let them have some fun,” Hecker said.Allison Hecker, Ethan’s mom, came across a post online of a girl dressed up as the Grinch scaring kids and moving things around in the yard. Ethan says as soon as he saw it, he knew he wanted to do it himself and begged his mom for the costume.“Ethan loves the theatrics and kids and it was perfect,” she said.Hecker ordered the costume and it arrived on Monday. That same day, they posted on social media.“He is asking per visit--he will spend 5-7 minutes creeping around the outside of your home while your kids scream with excitement (or fear),” the Facebook post read.Hecker says they were flooded with requests for the Grinch to stop at homes and birthdays.“We’ve had 10 (bookings), so far and he has about 50-55 booked,” she said.The money Ethan raises will go into savings and help him buy a car.
