SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The son of a San Diego murder victim made a plea Friday for the public to help find his father’s killer.Salvador Hernandez, 26, was shot and killed February 16, 2008, in Oak Park.He and a woman were sitting in a parked car on Seifert St. near Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 3:30 a.m. when a pickup truck pulled alongside their car and someone inside opened fire.The woman recovered from her bullet wounds but Hernandez died, San Diego Police said.During a news conference outside police headquarters, family and friends, including Hernandez's mother, sister and 12-year-old son Angel spoke about their loss. "Please if anyone has any information, I'm begging you, I never knew him," sobbed Angel, before turning to his grandmother for comfort.  San Diego County Crime Stoppers, 888-580-8477, and the San Diego Police Homicide Unit, 619-531-2293, are requesting public tips with more information to find the killer. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego Police Lieutenant serving as the department's LGBT liaison has announced he is stepping down from the role. In an open letter posted to LGBTQ San Diego County News, Lt. Daniel Meyer explained why and how he made the decision to leave his position as the liaison. Lt. Meyer has been the liaison for 10 years. The news comes after San Diego Pride organizers sent a letter to the mayor announcing no law enforcement contingents would be allowed in the parade or festival, until policing changes are made, to show support for the Black LGBTQ community.The LGBT Community Center announced it would no longer allow armed, uniformed officers at its facilities and events. In his letter, Lt. Meyer says he found himself at a cross roads, proud of the work he's done to make SDPD a more inclusive and understanding agency. Meyer says he recognizes a need for change on a national level within community relations with law enforcement. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The plaques at the Hillcrest pride monument have been restores after being vandalized in February. According to the Hillcrest Business Association, the repairs cost roughly ,500. All the money came through donations from local businesses, the association said. The plaques were vandalized in early February. Pictures show faces and the pride flag scratched out. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The San Diego International Auto Show announced Wednesday that its 2020 lineup was cancelled.The show was set to take place from December 31 through January 3.“After careful and extensive consideration of the health risks and other factors resulting from COVID-19, the New Car Dealers Association San Diego County will be unable to hold and unfortunately must cancel the San Diego International Auto Show,” the New Car Dealers Association of San Diego County said.The next event is scheduled to take place from December 30, 2021 through January 2, 2022.“As much as we wanted to move forward with the show for all of those who eagerly anticipate it each year, the outbreak of COVID-19 and the pandemic has resulted in a situation where we are unable to hold the show.
