MOSCOW, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Russia will give humanitarian aid to quake-stricken China, a source at the Emergency Situations Ministry told Russian media on Friday."Under the Russian president's order, the ministry will deliver tents, blankets, diesel generators and food to China, about 40 tons of cargo in total," the ministry said, quoted by the Itar- Tass news agency.The flight is scheduled for Saturday, the source said."An Ilyushin Il-76 cargo plane of the ministry will bring the aid to the Qinghai province, which sustained the heaviest damage in the recent quake," the ministry said.Another plane will bring more aid to China in the near future.Last Wednesday, a 7.1-magnitude earthquake rocked the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu, in Qinghai province, killing over 2,000 people and injuring 10,000 others.

BEIJING, May 17 (Xinhua) -- China hopes the United States will not exclude China when it loosens its export restrictions, Yao Jian, a spokesman with the Ministry of Commerce said here Monday.Yao's remarks came after the United States said over the weekend it might change its exports control regime.The United States should treat all countries equally and not discriminate against China in its export policies, Yao said at a press conference.U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke said in Hong Kong Sunday "concrete proposals" for changes in the exports control could be expected within the next several months.Locke said the review will help with "the sale of highly sophisticated technology that might be embedded in some of the machines and devices like wind turbines, and the software that might operate these very sophisticated systems."The United States' 1979 Export Administration Act limits the export sales of commercial high-technology goods to China. KHARTOUM, May 8 (Xinhua) -- Sudanese official said Saturday that the China-Arab Cooperation Forum constitutes an important platform to upgrade the economic, commercial and social ties between China and the Arab world."The China-Arab Cooperation Forum is important as it constitutes one of the major mechanisms to enhance and strengthen the economic and commercial relations between the Arab states and China," Abdul-Baqui Jailani, Sudanese state minister for humanitarian affairs, told Xinhua, one week before a ministerial conference of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum scheduled for May 13, in Tianjin, China.Jailani regarded the Sino-Sudanese cooperation as a model for the Arab countries to follow suit, saying that "Chinese experience in Sudan deserves to be studied thoroughly and it deserves to be repeated elsewhere in any other African or Arab country"."I think if we take for example oil industry, exploration and production services, the Chinese have proved to be at the highest level of development in this industry in particular, and I think we can develop this in other similar countries where there are reserves of petroleum," he added.He went on to say that "China is working with full transparency; they can build confidence with others without any hindrances or obstacles."The Sudanese official further called upon the Arab and African countries as well to give the Chinese a chance to invest and cooperate, adding that "such cooperation will result in mutual benefit for both China and others nations."He affirmed that China's contribution to establishment of development projects in Sudan would help in achieving lasting stability and peace in the country, saying that "for example, if we concentrate on development, on infrastructure, we will come to peace in Darfur. SHANGHAI, May 6 (Xinhua) -- More than 33 million Shanghai World Expo tickets have been sold, according to the latest statistics from the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination.A total of 33.11 million tickets, including 23.96 million individual tickets and 9.15 million group tickets, had been sold as of Thursday, the statistics showed.As of 5:30 p.m. Thursday, a total of 902,300 people had visited the Shanghai World Expo Park.On Thursday, 105,600 people visited the Expo as of 5:30 p.m. but this was a sharp drop compared with more than 200,000 people on May 1, the opening day.A spokesman from the Bureau of Shanghai World Expo Coordination said even though the Expo lasts for 184 days, ticket holders should consider coming earlier as that would mean avoiding the huge crowds expected before the end of the event.
