The bowling alley off Mira Mesa Boulevard has been known for their special needs and senior leagues, and as a spot for youth bowlers to enjoy the game with family and friends.Those who love the Lanes hope it has not seen its last strike."They have probably the biggest, or the second biggest, youth program in the state. We also have a couple of national champions that bowl there," said Marci Greim, who has started a "Save Mira Mesa Lanes" GoFundMe page.Greim, a mother of two young bowlers, said Mira Mesa Lanes has always been a big advocate of college."The kids, just by participating in leagues, have a portion of their dues set aside for college scholarship money. Then, when the kids do well in tournaments, or other things like that, they are earning college scholarship money. Mira Mesa Lanes has just always welcomed the youth bowlers,” said Greim.Mira Mesa Lanes shut down on March 16 due to the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. They reopened for a few weeks in June, but state restrictions forced them to shut down once again.The alley has been closed ever since."So, they are really on the brink," said Greim. "They are already behind on their rent and it's looking pretty bleak."The GoFundMe page was organized to help Mira Mesa Lanes pay their rent while the alley sits in limbo amid the pandemic.“It’s to help them survive long enough to not be closed permanently,” said Greim. 1625

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)  - A Marine was found dead Monday afternoon at the armory of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, according to military officials.The Marine had suffered a gunshot wound. No foul play is suspected, according to the U.S. Marine Corps.Military officials did not announce whether the incident was a suicide or accidental firing.The Marine’s identity has not been released. He or she was assigned to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.The MCAS Miramar Provost Marshal Office and MCAS Miramar Fire Department responded to the scene and are investigating the death. 580

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) --Concertgoers have questions about show refunds with tickets bought from third party vendors.Danny Memeo is one of those people. He went to Kaaboo in Del Mar last year. It was a special time for him and his wife, Kelly.“We got to see Tom Petty right before he died, so we're super thankful,” Memeo said. They had a great time, so decided to go again this year.“So we got the tickets, and then all this stuff happened,” Memeo said.He bought the tickets through Vivid Seats. It cost roughly ,800 for their entire family. “That’s a lot for anybody,” he said.Meanwhile, his family got devastating health news. Kelly’s cancer returned. Danny said her prognosis is not good, with an estimated 12 months left to live.“[We’re] thankful for 12 months, thankful for family,” Danny said. “But wow, what a difficult year for a lot of people.”Back in July, Kaaboo officially announced there would be no event this year. “All pass holders will have the option for a full refund,” said a statement on its website.Because Danny’s family bought tickets through a different site, it’s a different story. As of Monday morning, he did not have any luck getting his money back.“They just said… when it does get rescheduled, you’ll get those tickets and you can sell them if you don’t want them,” Danny said the company told him.Vivid Seat’s website said that if an event is canceled, customers “will receive a Rewards Cash loyalty credit for 110% of the full value of your order total.”For postponements, customers “will need to hold onto [their] tickets for now.”Team 10 contacted Vivid Seats and informed them of the Memeo family’s situation.A spokesperson said they would refund them immediately.“Vivid Seats was happy to refund Kelly. SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Hundreds of families are sleeping at Liberty Station Saturday night to raise awareness and money for the homeless in San Diego. The event is an annual tradition for the The San Diego Rescue Mission. Families participating in the event sleep on cots and tents made of cardboard to experience what homeless experience on a daily basis. Participants also build hygiene kits, blankets, and pet packs for the homeless. This year, the event included a concert, food, and a prayer session to pray for those that don't have a home. All of the proceeds raised at the event go to the San Diego Rescue Mission. 636
