Spades, dominoes, family and the Buffalo Bills. That's been the game plan every Sunday at Wilbert Covington's house. But this season has been different. Covington became sick in June. Just last week he found out that cancer has spread from his lungs through his entire body. He's asked his family for one final wish: to congratulate the Bills on their season. "He called us over because he said he reached his gates, and he wanted us to come over, so we came over," said Tiecha Hill, Covington's granddaughter, "He had his phone and was trying to open it but he couldn't. My aunt took the phone and she opened it and said 'Who are you trying to call?' and he said, 'the Bills.'"His granddaughter took to Facebook, sharing that story. She hoped it would help his dream come true. That's when Bills players Eddie Yarbough and Dion Dawkins stepped up with a FaceTime call on Thursday. "Once we heard that message about Wilbert we just said heck yeah. If he just wants to talk to us, absolutely. Lets do that immediately," said Dawkins. "For Wilbert to reach out to us, and ask us for a moment of our time, that's nothing for family," Yarbrough said. They both agreed - their gesture is exactly what you do for family. "The thing about Buffalonians is it's all for one, one for all. So when one of us is hurt, we're all hurt. When one of us has success, we all have success. So with Wilbert, he's hurting. So we're all hurting for him," said Yarbrough. "I'm really grateful he got to talk to them. One thing I can always say when he passes is that I was there. I did his wish," said Hill. This article was written by Olivia Proia for 1641

Social networking company Myspace has apologized for apparently losing 12 years' worth of music uploaded to its site, following a server migration error -- a loss potentially amounting to 50 million songs. The Los Angeles-based company, which was once a leading music-sharing platform, announced that content uploaded to its site from its inception in 2003 up until 2015 may no longer be accessible."As a result of a server migration project, any photos, videos and audio files you uploaded more than three years ago may no longer be available on or from Myspace," the company said in a statement on its website. "We apologize for the inconvenience."Myspace was the most popular social media site between 2005 and 2008, before Facebook overtook it.The site is credited with helping launch the careers of numerous international artists, including Kate Nash, Arctic Monkeys and Calvin Harris, who were discovered on the platform. It has nevertheless been in decline for years, failing to compete with other leading social media and music-sharing platforms including Facebook and YouTube, despite multiple redesigns of the site.In 2009, the platform employed approximately 1,600 people. It now has a staff of 150, according to the company website.Andy Baio, a tech expert and former chief technology officer of crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, warned that the music of up to 14 million artists may have been lost. The exact number of tracks lost has yet to be confirmed."Myspace accidentally lost all the music uploaded from its first 12 years in a server migration, losing over 50 million songs from 14 million artists," Baio wrote on Twitter.CNN has contacted Myspace's data protection officer for comment.Steven Battelle, the former lead vocalist of British rock band LostAlone, expressed sadness at the data loss and said the platform played a pivotal role in the establishment of his group."This makes me really sad, so much of the start of my band came from the exposure and community Mspace had," he wrote on Twitter. "I still think it was the best platform for artists / bands. Just music and people who loved the music commenting on it."Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation bought Myspace in 2005 for 0 million. In 2011, it was sold to digital ad company Specific Media for just million. 2309

SAN FRANCISCO — A man suspected of robbing a pharmacy in the San Francisco Bay area was fatally shot by officers who thought a hammer he was carrying in his waistband was a firearm, police said Wednesday.Details of the shooting were revealed even as some California counties and cities began plans to end curfews after days of largely peaceful protests over the death of George Floyd while in police custody in Minneapolis.Sean Monterrosa, 22, of San Francisco is the first confirmed death at the hands of law enforcement related to smash-and-grabs and protests in California since Floyd’s death. Vallejo Police Chief Shawny Williams said officers were responding to calls of looting at a Walgreens early Tuesday when the shooting occurred.Officers said Monterrosa began running toward a car when he suddenly stopped, got on his knees and placed his hands above his waist, revealing what appeared to be the butt of a firearm in his waistband. “This individual appeared to be running toward the black sedan when suddenly he stopped, taking a kneeling position, and placing his hands above his waist, revealing what appeared to be the butt of a handgun,” Williams said.An officer shot five times through a police car window, striking him once. The object Monterrosa had turned out to be a 15-inch hammer that was tucked into the poclet of his sweatshirt, according to the chief.“The intent was to stop the looting and arrest any perpetrators if necessary. The officers reacted to a perceived threat,” Williams said.John Burris, an attorney for the family, said he is appalled police would shoot at a person who was on his knees with his hands raised. The officer who shot Monterrosa is an 18-year veteran of the force and has been placed on leave pending an investigation. 1781

Suzanne Eaton, the American scientist killed in Greece, was raped, police in Crete said Tuesday.Police said Monday that a 27-year-old local man had confessed to the crime. The suspect said in his confession that he had seen Eaton running, and "with sexual assault as a probable motive, hit her twice with his car in order to immobilize her," Crete's Chief of Police Konstantinos Lagoudakis said at a press conference Tuesday."Then, after she was unconscious, he put her in the trunk of his car and took her to the location of the World War II bunker" where her body was found, Lagoudakis said. The suspect raped her and dumped her body into the bunker, covering the opening of the bunker's air shaft with a piece of wood to hide it, Crete Police's head of press Eleni Papathanassiou told CNN.It is not clear if Eaton was still alive when she was raped, she said.Wheel tracks lead officers to the suspect, police said, explaining that they had linked tracks found near the bunker to his car, which, they say, he cleaned after the attack on Eaton.During preliminary questioning, the suspect denied having been near the bunker for a month, which raised suspicions, Lagoudakis said.Signals from the suspect's phone also placed him near the crime scene on the day of the attack, the police chief said.Police say the suspect is a married father of two who owns farmland near the crime scene. They have not named him.The suspect said he had never met Eaton but had seen her running before, police said.Eaton, 59, a biologist at the Max Planck Institute at Dresden University in Germany, was in Crete for a conference when she disappeared. Her body was found a week later.A mother-of-two, she usually ran for 30 minutes every day, according to the "Searching for Suzanne" Facebook page set up when she went missing. 1817
