PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. — A Florida woman is recovering after being stung by a poisonous caterpillar at a local park. Now, she wants to share her experience with hopes of keeping others safe.Tara Forbes said she was at Whispering Pines Park in Port St. Lucie, Florida last weekend watching her son play on the playground. She was sitting on a bench under an oak tree when she said she felt a burning sensation on her arm.“My arm was out on the bench ... I thought maybe I was getting a little sunburn,” Forbes said. “I looked down and I had black and white fuzz here, and white fuzz on the inside. It just immediately felt like fire, like somebody took a flame to my skin.”That fuzz, she said, was from a poisonous puss caterpillar. She doesn’t know if it fell from the tree, where they are known to live, or if it was already on the bench where she was sitting. The pain spread to her bones and joints and became excruciating, she said.“My arm swelled up from my finger tips to my shoulder up into my neck and even into my chest.”She also became dizzy and nauseous.Forbes is a nurse and knew which symptoms to watch for to determine if she should go to the emergency room. In hindsight, she said she would go if she were to get stung again to better control the pain. That is why she wants her message to reach parents.“I think if this happened to my son or somebody else’s child they should go directly to the ER because it was very painful ... Children are so much smaller, so it could affect them much worse.”More than 24 hours after making contact with the caterpillar, Forbes was still in some pain. “I think it would be good for other parents just to be aware that when you’re enjoying the outdoors like we did, these things could happen. Know to seek medical help immediately when it does happen.”She said she used tape to pull the hairs out of her skin.A spokesperson with the city of Port St. Lucie said staff from the parks department checked out the park for poisonous caterpillars after Forbes’ report was brought to their attention. They did not find any of the caterpillars but said they will be returning Tuesday to look again. The spokesperson said city crews check all city parks daily for any potential hazards. 2241

President Donald Trump is striking back at former Vice President Joe Biden for suggesting he would "beat the hell out of" Trump if they were in high school."Crazy Joe Biden is trying to act like a tough guy. Actually, he is weak, both mentally and physically, and yet he threatens me, for the second time, with physical assault," Trump tweeted Thursday morning."He doesn't know me, but he would go down fast and hard, crying all the way. Don't threaten people Joe!" Trump warned. 487

President Donald Trump said Thursday he wishes he could get involved with the Justice Department and direct it toward Hillary Clinton."The saddest thing is that because I'm the President of the United States, I am not supposed to be involved with the Justice Department," Trump said. "I am not supposed to be involved with the FBI."Trump's comments on the radio program "The Larry O'Connor Show" about the Justice Department and FBI came the same week the Justice Department's special counsel investigation handed down indictments to his former campaign hands. The President responded to a suggestion from the host that his listeners want the Justice Department to go after Clinton by saying that he'd like those entities to focus on his 2016 opponent as well."I look at what's happening with the Justice Department. Well, why aren't they going after Hillary Clinton with her emails and with her, the dossier?" Trump said, referring to the law firm Perkins Coie saying it had paid Fusion GPS to compile a dossier of information on Trump and Russia on behalf of Clinton's presidential campaign and the Democratic National Committee."I'm very unhappy with it that the Justice Department isn't going," Trump said."I am not supposed to be doing the kind of things that I would love to be doing. And I am very frustrated by it."Trump is under significant scrutiny regarding his interactions with the Justice Department, and it remains unresolved whether he did anything improper by firing former FBI Director James Comey. The President reiterated his unhappiness with his Justice Department Friday morning in a series of tweets, saying "everybody is asking" why the DOJ and FBI isn't investigating Clinton and Democrats."At some point the Justice Department, and the FBI, must do what is right and proper. The American public deserves it!" he tweeted. 1852

President Donald Trump railed Tuesday against billionaire conservative brothers Charles and David Koch, accusing them of being against key components of his populist agenda and suggesting they're irrelevant in today's Republican Party.Trump's public attack, following a weekend in which he was criticized at a Koch network summer meeting, comes amid speculation that the Koch brothers are reconsidering their typically full-throated support for Republican candidates during the midterm elections."The globalist Koch Brothers, who have become a total joke in real Republican circles, are against Strong Borders and Powerful Trade. I never sought their support because I don't need their money or bad ideas," Trump tweeted Tuesday morning. "They love my Tax & Regulation Cuts, Judicial picks & more."In a separate tweet, Trump argued that he "made them richer" and that the Koch network "is highly overrated." 923

President Donald Trump formally accepted the Republican presidential nomination on Thursday as he prepares for the stretch run of his re-election bid.In a precedent-breaking speech that contrasted from past norms, Trump used the backdrop of the White House for his convention address. Trump spoke in front of a group of 1,500 supporters. The White House ceremony stood in contrast to typical conventions that are held in large arena before up to 20,000 supporters.Trump focused much of his speech on his opponent Joe Biden rather than his vision for a second term. Trump mentioned Biden by name 41 times, and made a number of indirect references to his Democratic challenger.Trump promises vaccineTrump joined Vice President Mike Pence’s pledge from last night in proclaiming that the US will have a coronavirus vaccine approved and ready by the end of 2020. His comments come despite skepticism from leading public health experts who say the shortened timeframe might not be enough to fully study the efficacy of vaccines."In recent months, our nation, and the entire planet, has been struck by a new and powerful invisible enemy. Like those brave Americans before us, we are meeting this challenge. We are delivering lifesaving therapies, and will produce a vaccine before the end of the year, or maybe even sooner," Trump said. While Trump said that the White House would continue heeding the advice of public health experts, the 1,500 spectators on hand were not socially distanced, and the majority of the crowd were not wearing face coverings.Trump condemns unrest in major citiesTrump joined a chorus of Republicans in condemning violence at protests in response to the shootings of police officers of black men, most recently Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin. While Trump and other speakers repeatedly, and falsely claimed, that Biden has not spoken against the violence, the former vice president has directly encouraged protests to remain peaceful."In the strongest possible terms the Republican party condemns the rioting, looting, arson and violence we have seen in Democrat-run cities like Kenosha, Minneapolis, Portland, Chicago, and New York, and many others Democrat-run."While Trump has previously criticized local leaders for not using National Guard troops, there are currently guard units in Kenosha and Minneapolis.Ivanka goes lastDonald Trump’s daughter Ivanka was the last among Trump’s family members to speak at the Republican Convention.Unlike her brother Eric, Ivanka Trump avoided referring to Biden by name and kept her focus on why her father should be re-elected.“Washington has not changed Donald Trump. Donald Trump has changed Washington,” Ivanka Trump said. “America doesn’t need another empty vessel who will do whatever the media and the fringe of his party demands Now more than ever, America needs four more years of a warrior in the White House.:Protesters make noiseAs Trump spoke from the White House lawn, protesters made as much noise as possible outside of the White House. They used airhorns, instruments and drums to drown out the president. 3094
