BEIJING, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Representatives from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the ruling United Russia Party met Tuesday to exchange views on the international financial crisis.     "This is the first official and high-level dialogue between the Chinese and Russian ruling parties," said Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee of his meeting with United Russia Party's council presidium secretary Vyacheslav Volodin.     Wang and Volodin signed an agreement on party-to-party cooperation on later Tuesday. Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping attended the signing ceremony.     Xi hailed the Sino-Russian relationship when meeting with Volodin before the ceremony, saying that China would work with Russia to promote stable and healthy growth of the ties, in a bid to benefit the two nations and peoples. ZAGREB, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived in the Croatian capital of Zagreb Friday for a state visit to strengthen the comprehensive cooperative partnership between the two nations.     This is the first visit to Croatia by a Chinese head of state since the two countries established diplomatic ties 17 years ago.     In Zagreb, President Hu is expected to meet Croatian leaders to discuss how to enhance bilateral cooperation and exchange views on major regional and global issues of common concern.     The two countries are expected to sign a host of cooperation deals involving various sectors during the visit.     "I believe that President Hu's visit to Croatia will have great impact on consolidating traditional friendship between China and Croatia and deepening all-round and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries," said Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Li Hui last week. BEIJING, May 11 (Xinhua) -- China's State Council Monday published a guideline to maintain current agricultural development and promote income for farmers.     The guideline was issued on the Chinese central government's official Web portal www.gov.cn.     It consists of 22 items in eight parts, calling for more efforts to expand domestic demand, promote exports and stabilize grains' prices.     The guideline calls for more support for spring sowing, including pest control, guarding against natural disasters and science and technology services.     It also stresses the importance of granting subsidies to farmers and setting grain prices.

BEIJING, May 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao and his U.S. counterpart, Barack Obama, on Wednesday discussed bilateral relations and the A/H1N1 flu epidemic during a telephone conversation.     Hu recalled that during their meeting at the Group of 20 summit in London in early April, he and Obama agreed to work together to build a positive, cooperative and comprehensive relationship in the 21st century.     The two leaders also reached extensive consensus on the establishment of the mechanism of China-U.S. Strategic and Economic Dialogues, joint efforts to tackle the international financial crisis, and enhanced coordination and cooperation on major global and regional issues, Hu said.     "Now, both countries are seriously implementing the consensus," the Chinese president said.     "China is willing to work with the United States to push for a healthy and stable development of China-U.S. relations," he said.     Obama, for his part, said the meeting with Hu was important because it outlined the future development of bilateral cooperation and made a good start on the China-U.S. strategic dialogue.     The United States appreciated China's efforts to promote bilateral relations, he said.     The Chinese president expressed sincere condolences over the A/H1N1 flu epidemic that has hit parts of the United States, and said the Chinese government has started emergency measures to prevent a spread of the disease.     "We are willing to keep contact with the World Health Organization, the United States and other parties concerned, and strengthen cooperation to jointly confront this public health challenge," Hu said.     Obama said his country has adopted effective measures against the disease and will continue to keep a close eye on the outbreak.     The U.S. president said he was looking forward to meeting with Hu again during a meeting of leaders of the Group of Eight nations and developing countries in Italy. Obama said he was also looking forward to visiting China.     The two leaders also exchanged views on such issues as the situation on the Korean Peninsula and the situation in South Asia.

BEIJING, June 22 (Xinhua) -- China's top political advisor called Monday for more resources and support for alternative fuel vehicles to boost the car industry and spur the economy.     Jia Qinglin, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, a political advisory body, made the call during a visit to Beijing-based FOTON, Asia's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer.
