UPDATE: The fire was 100 percent contained at 250 acres by Friday at 6:20 p.m. All lanes of SR-78 reopened by 5 p.m.RAMONA, Calif. (KGTV) -- Crews Thursday stopped the forward rate of spread of the Rangeland Fire burning in the Pasqual Valley near Ramona. The blaze started along San Pasqual Valley Road around 1 p.m. near the San Dieguito River Trail and quickly grew to 250 acres. The fire is 60 percent contained. The eastbound lanes on State Route 78 closed at Bandy Canyon Road due to the fire, but are expected to reopen by 10 p.m. The 78 will be down to one lane on Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.  Highland Valley Road was also closed between Bandy Canyon and Archie Moore Road due to a big rig that was stuck on the road.  803

UPDATE 6:04 PMThe bus driver, a 52-year-old man from Whittier, Calif., survived with minor injuries and was speaking with CHP investigators. 10News learned the charter bus originated from El Monte in East Los Angeles and made multiple stops en route to San Ysidro, including Riverside and Murrieta. The bus crashed about 20 miles south of Murrieta in Pala Mesa.Three females, described as Hispanic, were killed in the crash, authorities said.According to officials, a five-year-old male passenger was transported to Riverside University Health Systems Medical Center, about 50 miles north from the scene of the crash.Five other passengers were transported to Palomar Hospital, seven were transported to Temecula Valley Hospital, and five were taken to Inland Valley Hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time.California Highway Patrol said the bus was equipped with seat belts. (KGTV) — At least three people were killed and 18 other people were injured after a charter bus crashed and overturned on Interstate 15 Saturday.The bus was on southbound I-15 just south of State Route 76 before 10:30 a.m. The bus lost control for some reason, skidding into the dirt on the freeway's shoulder and overturning.Officers arrived to find the bus overturned with at least one passenger trapped inside still. Crews also needed to stabilize the bus to prevent it from falling down an embankment.At least three people were killed, according to North County Fire Protection District (NCFPD). One victim was found dead inside the bus, NCFPD Capt. John Choi told City News Service. Some passengers were ejected from the crash.Eighteen people were taken to Inland Valley Hospital, Palomar Medical Center, and Temecula for injuries ranging from minor to critical condition. The ages of passengers ranges from minors to adults.The bus driver, a man from Whittier, Calif., survived with minor injuries and was speaking with CHP investigators. TUCSON, Arizona — Ballot counting continues across Arizona Friday in a Senate race separated by only a few thousand votes, and less than one percent.With hundreds of thousands of ballots left to be counted, it may be days before Arizonans know whether Republican Martha McSally or Democrat Kyrsten Sinema won the race to replace Jeff Flake in the upper chamber of Congress.But there's one not-unlikely scenario in which Arizonans may be represented by both Congresswomen in the Senate.After John McCain's passing in August, the responsibility fell to Arizona Republican Gov. Doug Ducey to appoint an interim replacement for the beloved senator in Washington. Ducey made a safe choice in former Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl, who retired from office in 2013. Kyl, however, only committed to serve in the role until early January, after which Ducey will once again have to choose a replacement until Arizonans make their choice to fill the seat in a 2020 special election.So who are the potential candidates? There was speculation over the summer that Ducey might appoint his own chief of staff to the role or even Cindy McCain -- the Arizona senator's widow. But should Sinema eek out a win after ballot counting is completed, McSally will be out of a job, having vacated her seat in Congress to campaign.If Ducey decides to appoint McSally, that could leave both candidates serving in the Senate until at least 2020. After that, the Republican appointee will have to decide whether or not to run in the special election.Ducey has left no indication so far about his intentions for the appointment, but McSally's name certainly isn't out of the picture. 1691
