According to police, a 17-year-old boy was walking with a 16-year-old girl near the 6900 block of Linda Vista Road around 12:30 p.m. Police say a silver sedan pulled up beside the pair and someone inside shot the 17-year-old in the stomach. The teen suffered minor injuries, according to police, who said he was uncooperative.Police say, during the shooting, the teens ducked behind a car in the area. The vehicle was heavily damaged. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — On Friday, there was confusion and frustration with Poway Unified School District's reopening plans this fall from parents like Mark Meadows. “I think they should make their decisions based on the facts. Not based on something that they made up or something that they misinterpreted,” Meadows said.In a letter sent out earlier this week, PUSD reported, in part, that it planned for the possibility to resume classes in-person after the county was off the state's monitoring list for 14 consecutive days. The letter reads, "However, the new metrics announced to San Diego County superintendents [Tuesday], require our county to be off the monitoring list for two 14-day cycles (a total of 28 consecutive days)."That 28-day part is incorrect, county officials said Friday.PUSD reported to parents that the district would continue with virtual learning through December. On Thursday night, Superintendent Dr. Marian Kim-Phelps told ABC10 News, “The reason why we chose going to December was that after talking to our district administrators and staff, we wanted some continuity of learning for our children to ensure that so that we could finish whatever option we started with like finish a whole entire quarter or trimester.”“[If this goes through December] it would require us a lot of schedule shifting and possibly paying for some type of tutor or nanny to watch our child while they're at their virtual class during the day,” added Meadows.Dr. Kim-Phelps said she sent the letter after getting new guidelines during a tele-briefing on Tuesday with the county but the county confirmed Friday that PUSD's information is incorrect.Friday afternoon, PUSD reported that was no misunderstanding on its part and directed ABC10 News to a county slide that reads, in part, that on Day 28, schools can reopen for in-person instruction.PUSD added on Friday, “There's no change in our plans." 1909

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police agencies throughout San Diego County are investigating multiple brewery break-ins, all within the last week. Employees at Serpentine Cider say they were hit last Friday morning. Their surveillance cameras captured a man walking up to their business, moving a planter and then smashing a window to get inside. The person got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. Just two miles away, Longship Brewery says they were hit that very same morning. The suspect, also broke a window and crawled inside, getting away with an empty cash drawer. In Vista, Barrel Harbor Brewing confirms with 10News someone also broke into their place the same exact way. They reported the crime to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department. On social media, a fourth brewery, Black Plague, posted pictures of a break-in at their business on Instagram. Oceanside Police is investigating that incident. So far, police haven't confirmed if the incidents are related or released a description of who they're looking for. 1029

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Nearly 1,500 people throughout San Diego County are without power as winter storms sweep through the area. According to the San Diego Gas and Electric outage map, 1,494 people are without power due to an unplanned outage. Affected communities stretch from the South Bay into North and East County. SDG&E says it expects to have all power restored by 11 p.m. At this time, it’s unclear what caused the outages. Click here to view the outage map. Cooler weather, rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue through Thursday before tapering off. “Tropical moisture is building around the county from a storm surging from Baja. A cold system will bring colder air and heavier rainfall and possible flash flooding,” said 10News Meteorologist Angelica Campos. Rainfall accumulations are expected to average between .50 and 1.50 inches for the coast and valleys, 2 to 3 inches for the mountains and .10 to .25 inches for the deserts.
