LOS ANGELES  - Surveillance video released by the Los Angeles Police Department shows a violent taco truck robbery that left a worker with injuries.Three men entered the truck as it was parked on West Manchester Ave. in South Los Angeles around 3 a.m. on July 14.Police said the men forced the workers to the ground and demanded cash.One worker was pistol-whipped during the hold-up. There is no word on his condition.The suspects were not able to gain access to the safe in the taco truck. They took the workers’ cell phones and cash before leaving, investigators said.Los Angeles Police said the men were last seen running from the location with the victims’ property. They were described as in their 20s with no distinctive physical features.Anyone with information was asked to call the LAPD. 809

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Hard-hit California has eclipsed 2 million coronavirus cases as the U.S. heads into a Christmas travel surge that could fuel the deadly crisis across the nation. Over 1.19 million travelers passed through the nation’s airport security checkpoints Wednesday. Airports also recorded around 1 million travelers on each of the five days between last Friday and Tuesday.Deaths per day in the U.S. have repeatedly topped 3,000 over the past two weeks.Dr. Anthony Fauci, the government’s top infectious-disease expert, said he is particularly worried about travel between Christmas and New Year’s. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Some U.S.-based users of WeChat are suing President Donald Trump in a bid to block an executive order that they say would effectively prohibit U.S. access to the popular Chinese messaging app. The complaint was filed Friday in San Francisco and asks a federal court judge to stop Trump’s order from being enforced. It claims a ban would violate U.S. users’ constitutional rights. Trump has ordered sweeping but vague bans on transactions with the Chinese owners of WeChat and the TikTok app. He says they threaten U.S. national security. The Commerce Department is expected next month to reveal the types of transactions that would be banned. 669

Long lines of voters were reported in Ohio and Indiana Tuesday as early voting began in those states. So far, more than 4.5 million ballots have already been cast in the 2020 Presidential Election, according to the U.S. Elections Project.Mail-in, absentee or early in-person voting is already underway in 39 states, according to the Associated Press, with more to follow.In Ohio on Tuesday, hundreds waited outside board offices in Hamilton, Franklin and Cuyahoga counties, which serve voters from the three biggest cities of Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland, respectively. Similar lines were reported across Ohio, and they remained long hours after voting started.The U.S. Elections Project has return data for 23 states who are already collecting early votes or mail-in ballots, and shows 4,526,562 ballots have been collected in those states so far. The project is run by a professor at the University of Florida who has tracked voter turnout since 2000.A handful of states report party registration data of the ballots requested and returned. Those seven states account for nearly 1.6 million returned ballots so far. Of those, just over 50 percent of returned ballots are from voters who had registered with the state Democratic party.“I strongly caution that Democrats’ unprecedented high levels of early voting should not be taken as an indicator of the final election results,” Professor Michael McDonald warns.
