President Donald Trump cited a parody news website as evidence of tech company bias amid a Friday morning tweetstorm.Trump tweeted an article from The Babylon Bee, a parody news website with a conservative slant. The publication's Twitter bio dubs itself "fake news you can trust."The story claimed that Twitter shut down its entire network on Thursday to "slow the spread of negative Biden news.""Wow, this has never been done in history," Trump tweeted. "This includes his really bad interview last night. Why is Twitter doing this. Bringing more attention to Sleepy Joe & Big T" 593

President Donald Trump said on Monday he is choosing among five women to nominate to the Supreme Court by the end of the week, and is pushing for the nominee to be confirmed by Election Day.Trump said that he has had conversations with his potential nominees, and could meet with them in person later in the week.“I’d rather see it all take place before the election,” Trump said to reporters. The nominee would replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died on Friday after a bout with metastatic pancreatic cancer. No matter the nominee, they will face one of the most challenging nomination processes ever seen.Election Day is just 43 days away, which will make for a shorter nomination process than typically seen. Also, the Senate generally takes the weeks leading up to the election off to allow for senators to campaign. Nomination hearings might force senators to stay closer to Washington in the critical days leading to the election. The timing has both frustrated and stymied Democrats. In 2016, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell would not consider President Barack Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland to replace Justice Antonin Scalia, who died in February 2016. That left the Supreme Court down to eight justices for over an entire year. But this time, McConnell says its different with Republicans holding both the Senate and White House.“The American people re-elected our majority in 2016,” McConnell said. “They strengthened it further in 2018 because we pledged to work with President trump on the most critical issues facing our country. The federal judiciary was right at the top of the list. Ironically it was the democratic leader who went out of his way to declare the midterm 2018 elections a referendum on the handle of the Supreme Court."Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer fired back at McConnell."To decide it at this late moment is despicable and wrong and against democracy,” he said.McConnell and Trump could face hurdles from within the party. Republicans hold a 53-47 Senate advantage and a 50-50 tie would be broken by Vice President Mike Pence. If four Republicans choose to vote against a confirmation, the vote likely fails. So far, Republican Sens. Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski have said they would wait until after the election to vote for a nominee. There are three other Republican senators, Mitt Romney, Chuck Grassley and Cory Gardner, whose vote is still in question. What these senators decide will likely determine whether Trump will be able to fulfill his wish of getting a nominee through by Election Day. 2568

President Donald Trump said Honduras' US aid is "in play" because of a caravan of migrants moving through Mexico who plan to turn themselves in and request asylum once they make it to the US border."The big Caravan of People from Honduras, now coming across Mexico and heading to our 'Weak Laws' Border, had better be stopped before it gets there. Cash cow NAFTA is in play, as is foreign aid to Honduras and the countries that allow this to happen. Congress MUST ACT NOW!" Trump tweeted Tuesday. The tweet is a latest in a series from Trump this week in which he has demanded a halt to the caravan. 606

Polls have officially opened in several states for the 2020 general election as Americans decide who will lead their country for the next four years. As of 7 a.m. ET, polls have opened in every state in the eastern time zone, and most of the polls in the central time zone have opened as well.In the final days, polling continued to show that President Donald Trump faces an uphill battle in his re-election bid against Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, as Trump trails by between 5 and 10 points in many national polls. However, he faces a smaller deficit in several key swing states. In Pennsylvania, which many analysts consider will be the "tipping point," Biden leads by anywhere from between four and seven points. While millions of Americans will cast their ballots on Tuesday, record numbers have already voted. According to Vox, about 98 million Americans voted early — whether in-person or by mail — as fears of the COVID-19 forced many to plan ahead.Vox also reports that nearly a dozen states have already seen 90% of the ballots cast compared to the 2016 election.Due to high numbers of mail-in ballots — and state procedures for counting them — there's a significant chance that analysts will be unable to project a winner for the presidency by Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. In Pennsylvania, officials could not begin processing and counting mail-in ballots until Tuesday morning, while other states like Florida allow some of that work to be done by election day. It's not just the presidency on the line on Tuesday. Democrats also believe they have a shot at taking control of the Senate. In order to do so, they would need to pick up a net of three Senate seats and likely account for a probable loss in Alabama, where Democratic Sen. Doug Jones is expected to lose to Republican challenger Tommy Tuberville. 1843
