Student loan borrowers are getting another break.A recent executive order signed by President Trump extends the suspension of payments and interest on federally-held student loans from September 30 to December 31, but certain details are still unclear.“The language isn’t super clear, so we student loan nerds are anxiously awaiting the Department of Education’s guidance, which we are expecting in the next couple of weeks for sure,” said Betsy Mayotte with The Institute of Student Loan Advisors (TISLA).Borrowers have reported their loan servicers are also awaiting direction from the Department of Education.Aside from a break in payments, Mayotte said there are programs borrowers in default should take advantage of during this COVID period.“Loan rehabilitation is kind of an awesome and unique thing for the federal student loan program. If you make nine consecutive on-time payments in an amount that’s based on your income, so the payments can be as low as , not only are you taken out of default, but they remove the default line from your credit report like it was never there. SunTrust says a former employee may have tried to print information on about 1.5 million customers and share it with a "criminal third party."Chairman and CEO William Rogers Jr. made the announcement Friday as the regional bank released its quarterly earnings.Rogers said the bank believes the information included names and account balances, but not Social Security numbers, account numbers or passwords. He also said the bank has not identified "significant fraudulent activity" on the accounts.Rogers said this was discovered "in conjunction with law enforcement." He did not identify or elaborate on the criminal third party.SunTrust is the 12th-largest US commercial bank by assets, according to the Federal Reserve. Tempe, Arizona police are investigating a deadly crash involving a self-driving Uber vehicle early Monday morning.  The Uber vehicle was reportedly headed northbound when a woman walking outside of the crosswalk was struck. The woman, identified as 49-year-old Elaine Herzberg, was taken to the hospital where she died from her injuries.Tempe Police says the vehicle was in autonomous mode at the time of the crash and a vehicle operator was also behind the wheel. No passengers were in the vehicle at the time. An Uber spokesperson said they are aware of the incident and are cooperating with authorities.They released the following statement: "Our hearts go out to the victim’s family. TAMPA BAY, Fla. — About four million Kia and Hyundai vehicle owners are one step closer to receiving a piece of the nearly 0 million settlement over an engine defect linked to cars and SUVs spontaneously bursting into flames.The settlement deal, first announced last year, would cover reimbursement for past repairs and expenses, free repair or replacement of damaged engines, denied warranty coverage, and loss of vehicle value.ABC Action News I-team Investigator Jackie Callaway first exposed the cause behind these fires in the report “Up in Flames” in 2018.That’s also the year Tisha VanAllen’s 2011 Kia Optima caught fire as she was driving down a Mississippi highway.“The car started stuttering and I pulled over and when I did it was just engulfed in flames,” she said.VanAllen became trapped in the burning car.“I tried my passenger door, my driver's door, it would not budge,” she said.Panicking, she kicked at the door and window before a truck driver pulled over and wrestled the door open.“He kept yanking on the door handle until he finally got it to open up and he just grabbed me and yanked me out,” she said.The loss of her car devastated the finances of the single mother of four.
