SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — SeaWorld's Tidal Twister roller coaster was open for roughly two weeks before an "operational issue" forced the ride to close.Friday, the park reopened the attraction to the public after repairs and has "passed inspection by the required agency," according to the park.In a statement to 10News, SeaWorld confirmed the ride passed inspection, adding, "The safety of our guests and team members is our top priority, and we are pleased to have resolved the issue in a short period of time."RELATED: SeaWorld unveils Tidal Twister thrill ride at San Diego parkThe ride had been shut down on June 1 over the mechanical issue, according to Cal/OSHA. Tidal Twister features duel track cars traveling at 30 mph around an infinite loop. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Some men are sharing their story of an unlikely redemption after police spotted them spray-painting graffiti on a street in El Cajon.Gripped by the message of the recent protests, Dre, Dan, and Gee did something they've never done before. The three, all of them artists, ended up on Heart Drive with spray paint."Just wanted to put up something, so when people drive by, it says 'love.' It says 'peace,'" said Dan."We are about art. People need to see the message," said Dre.Around 2 a.m., El Cajon Police Sergeant Mike Murphy pulled up to the three, before two more officers arrived. The three friends prepared to be arrested. Sgt. Murphy surveyed what they painted: peace signs, the words 'BLM' and 'Justice For Floyd.'He talked to them about the impact of graffiti. The men apologized. There would be no arrest. The three friends offered to fix it and Sgt. Murphy said he would help."That's a good feeling. It's the same as the message we were out there painting that night," said Dan.That same day, the men turned up with paint and rollers and together with Sgt. Murphy, they covered the spray paint. The three men decided they would funnel their passions into an art installation with the theme of unity. Sgt. Murphy agreed to help them find a venue for it. Dre and Dan say their encounter with him shows them that police can be part of the solution."Not every cop is out to kill black people. There are good cops out there, and I think people need to start understanding and noticing," said Dre.After the art piece is complete, Sgt. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- SeaWorld San Diego plans to close Thursday as the county prepares for a storm. According to a news release, the theme park made the decision due to heavy rain and strong winds that could sweep through San Diego. The park plans to re-open Friday, November 30. Showers are expected to develop Wednesday night, becoming widespread and heavier by Thursday. Rainfall totals are expected to average between .50” to 1.50” for the coast and valleys with 2” to 4” in the mountains and .50” in the deserts. Strong winds will also accompany the storm. A wind advisory is in effect for the coast and valleys Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and for the mountains and deserts from 6 a.m. Thursday through 6 a.m. Friday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego State University is suspending spring 2020 programs to Italy amid the spread of the novel coronavirus. The university said in an update to students Monday that it was calling all students studying abroad in Italy back to the United States. The decision was made due to the elevated level three travel advisories the CDC and State Department issued for the country. At the moment, the university doesn’t have any plans to cancel classes. University officials say they won’t make such plans unless directed by the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego veterans from WWII and the Korean War are getting ready for a special trip. This weekend they'll board an Honor Flight to Washington D.C.10News is getting exclusive access to the trip and was at Honor Flight San Diego's last planning meeting before the special weekend gets off the ground. David Smith, Founder of Honor Flight San Diego, says it's incredibly important to thank our veterans while there's still time. The oldest veteran on this weekend's flight will be 99-years-old. "I've actually had veterans come up to me and say, 'ya know, in all these years no one has ever said thank you to me - this means so much'," said Smith.The group relies on fundraising to make the honor flight a reality - it costs 0,000 for the entire weekend.Our coverage of the Honor Flight continues Friday morning when Reporter Amanda Brandeis boards the plane with the veterans and will continue through Sunday when they all return to San Diego. Honor Flight San Diego welcomes the community to join the Sunday's homecoming at the San Diego International Airport.
