SDG&E suggests customers turn off air conditioners and significantly reduce or avoid using other appliances and electric equipment. Refrigerator and freezer doors should also be kept closed and all unnecessary lighting should be turned off, health and safety permitting.The company suggested customers also reduce their water use due to the need for electricity to pump and process water. For electric vehicle owners, charging should be delayed if possible until after the emergency shutoffs, SDG&E said. 8939

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego and National City police departments announced several arrests Friday in violent crime cases over about two years in central San Diego and the South Bay.Police said in a release the crimes occurred between April 2018 and February 2020 in the Bay Terraces, Mountain View, and Shelltown neighborhoods, and the National City area.Many cases appeared to be linked to the same suspects, police added, and a gang allegation was attached to each crime:John Orozco, 26, of El Cajon, was arrested on Nov. 11, 2020, for the murder of Joaquin Ruiz on July 12, 2019, the attempted murder of Julio Martull on July 24, 2019, and other related crimes.Ethan Apan, 28, of National City, was arrested on Nov. 17, 2020, for the murder of Joaquin Ruiz on July 12, 2019, the attempted murder of Julio Martull on July 24, 2019, and conspiracy to commit the murder of Marco Magana on Aug. 1, 2019. Apan was also arrested for other related charges.Kevin Herrera, 26, of National City, was arrested on Nov. 17, 2020, for the murder of Joaquin Ruiz on July 12, 2019, and other related charges.Ismael Betancourt, 20, of National City, was arrested on Nov. 19, 2020, for the murder of Lowry Rivers on April 8, 2018. Jorge Sanchez, 18, of San Diego, had previously been arrested for the murder of Emily Cortez on July 15, 2020. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego County started the rainfall season in October bone dry, but now the region is getting ready for another storm in time for Thanksgiving.San Diego's weekend will be great, cooling down on Monday before the storm arrives. Winds will pick up on Tuesday. Then, the surf will increase along the coast before the Thanksgiving storm arrives.The atmospheric river will potentially set up the stage for heavy rain, flash flooding, and thunderstorms during the major winter storm. Rainfall totals could average from 3-5 inches for the coast and valleys and 4-8 inches in the mountains. Snow levels will start out high around 8,000 feet. That means snow could fall in Julian, Palomar, Mt. Laguna, and even Descanso. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego County officials are warning that the county could move into a lower, more restrictive COVID-19 tier, but explained if it does happens the shift wouldn't happen overnight. In just one week, San Diego County's COVID-19 case rate per 100,000 residents is up from 5.8 to 6.9. The positivity rate is also up from 3.4% to 4.2%.These two metrics determine whether or not the county moves up or down on the state's new colored tier system. The positivity rate is low enough to move the county from the red to a less restrictive, orange tier. The case per thousand rate is moving the county closer to going from red to purple, the tier with the most restrictions. County officials explain moving up or down from a tier would only happen if there were two consecutive weeks of data in one specific tier. The increased positive cases among students at San Diego State University could have an impact on the state's increasing numbers. As of Wednesday night, there are 440 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and four probable cases. Just last week, the campus only had 20 cases. On Wednesday the county also talked about a discrepancy with testing data, saying the state is not getting the county's correct testing numbers. Dr. Wilma Wooten couldn't say how many tests aren't being recorded properly but says the county is working with the state to resolve the issue in the next two weeks. Case counts will now be updated by the state every Tuesday and the county says they will provide those numbers the following day on Wednesdays each week. 1563
