The Los Angeles Times reports the owner plans to turn the 91-year-old building into a hotel where a select group of members buys into "a piece of a portfolio of the best real estate in the world." Members will own shares of the property and pay regular fees to cover management costs. LOS ANGELES (KGTV) - A Los Angeles Fire Department swift water rescue team made a daring rescue in fast-moving water Wednesday. A man was stranded in the Los Angeles River at Atwater Village as a storm moved through, creating rapids in the normally driver riverbed. The firefighter who first made it to the man in a boat had to turn back due to the difficult position. A rescue swimmer joined the boat pilot and saved the man. The man was evaluated by paramedics.
